Chapter 2- Peter Pan

Briar was faced against her father at the breakfast table below the deck. Her eyes were wondering everywhere apart from his. 'Is everything okay love?' He asked as concern dripped in his voice. Briar cleared her throat and grabbed a silver spoon. 'Yes father' She smiled reassuringly at him. She had never been a good liar especially around him, he already made her feel nervous. Her hands placed in her lap as she stared at the ticking crocodile clock.

'Any plans today?' Briar dropped her spoon and she cringed as it dropped with a loud clunk. He sipped some of his tea watching her and her eyes met his ocean blue ones. She let out a nervous chuckle as she reached down to pick it up. She thought he was going to clock on any minute. 'Probably just reading, drawing, eating and sleeping.. like I did the day before and the day before that' She held back the urge to roll her eyes.

Hook chuckled. 'I'll find you something extra special when I return tonight.' He said barely noticing how fidgity she was. Hook barely noticed what Briar did around the ship because he was always busy. It was hard raising a hormonal teenager and it was especially hard watching her grow every day, month and year, whenever she spoke she heard her stubborn mother. Briar's eyes widened and she let out a small cough which got trapped into the back of her throat.

'Where are you going?' She asked as she sipped her tea to contain her nerves. The tea burned her tongue and she jumped a little out of her seat.

'Mermaids cave' he replied looking at her closely. 'Are you sure everything's okay? You seem jumpy' Shit she thought to herself.

'Well I didn't want to ask you because of last night but...' She trailed and Hook nodded his head for her to continue. 'Can I go visit Mothers grave, it's been awhile' She squeezed her leg looking at him as he sucked in his breath.

He hesitated to speak as he played with the hook on his right hand. 'I'll make an exception.' He noticed a spark dancing in Briar's eyes as he stood up to pace the room. 'If you go through these next days without complaining about your future.' The spark died down in her eyes as she sighed deeply. 'Okay Father.' Hook smiled as she obeyed.

'Well get ready. I'll tell one of the fools up above to head towards the enchanted forrest.' Briar shot up from her seat and almost ran over to her father. She pulled him into a big hug. A huge grin stretched onto Hooks face. 'Thank you.' She said before pulling away.

Hook cupped her cheek and sighed. 'You're so like her.' He muttered under his breath. Briar shifted her feet, she always felt uncomfortable when he brought that up. He killed her. She always thought he'd hate her too but she always got told that he loved her every single day.

Briar watched as her father left the room. She felt like a ginourmous weight had been lifted from her shoulders. A smile stretched across her mouth. She went over to her fathers desk to search for the map of the enchanted Forrest. She knew the place off by heart by eyeing maps all her life but she just wanted to be sure as she had never left the small area where her mother was buried, it was always there and back.

Briar tucked the map away into her red skirt and made sure every drawer she'd opened was closed shut. She looked in the mirror at herself. 'You can do this Briar Rose Hook.' She repeated many times until she felt stupid. Apart of her felt like returning back into her room into her bed but then the other was ready for a whirlwind of adventure and something new. She didn't want to be tucked up here miserable for her whole life up until her last breath following her fathers orders. She searched into a golden drawer by the ship's window, the drawer she wasn't allowed near. Actually there were several drawers and cupboards she wasn't allowed in, she had no idea why her father didn't lock them.
