Previously on "Just an Assistant"
Before I can do anything a bucket of water is being dumbed on top of my head.
"Don't try to mess with me, show off.", Pietro smirks down at me.
I try to retaliate but Friday interrupts me through the speakers saying Tony planned a meeting that everyone must attend. It starts in 5 minutes.

Y/n's POV

Pietro and I are both soaked walking down one of the hallways towards the conference room with squeaky footprints following behind us. I know Pietro only got his top half wet earlier but I may have attacked him after he threw that bucket of water on me.

We finally make to the conference room, being the last two to arrive, causing stares from everyone. The fact that we were soaked might have not helped either.

"Why do you guys just look like you just stood under those big buckets at water parks?", Tony asks with his usual snarky voice.

"Oh, Y/n was just showing me what she can do.", Pietro answers, giving me a slight smile.

"Is she Poseidon? Like damn...", Scott smiles, proud of his...awesome? joke.

"Stop referencing Greek mythology, please! It's
overworked, Tic Tac!", Sam rolls his eyes at him.

"Ok just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's 'overworked'. You just feel left out!", Scott says using his hands as quotation marks while saying "overworked".

"Left out?! I do not feel left out! I'll have you know, I'm actually very aware of many things about Greek mythology! Like Hercules, Meg, Hades, Zeus, Phil-"

"Are you just naming characters from the 1997 Disney film, Hercules?", Clint joins into the conversation.

"Maybe-"

Steve sighs and interrupts one of his best friends, "Can we please just start this meeting?"

Tony stares down me and Pietro, "Not until they stop getting my floor soaking wet."

Why does he have to be so sassy all the time? I close my eyes and use my powers to quickly get rid of all the water on me and Pietro, evaporating it, making us completely dry.

Pietro along with everyone else in the room stare at me in shock, he asks, "You can make water disappear?!"

"Well it didn't disappear. I simply evaporated it, putting it back into the water cycle."

"Okay, what? Since when have you've had powers?", Tony looks at me just as confused as the rest of the team, besides Pietro.

"Uh- since I got stuck with a weird needle at 15 years old.", I say, making it seem like the most obvious thing in the world.

"Why didn't you use them then in that fight with Aalex?", Steve asks.

"Well honestly I thought there might've been a chance to redeem myself and keep my identity a secret.", I tell them. That's not actually true though, to be actually honest, I forgot. I mean it's been 2 years since I've used them so can you blame me? Yeah probably actually. I mean who forgets they have superpowers?! I do I guess...

"Well then ... I actually can't think of any women with water powers- anyway care to share your abilities with the class?", Tony says, gesturing to the team, trying to brush off his poor attempt of giving me a nickname.

I give Tony a quick nod and take a deep breath. I start to explain my powers to them, "Well, as you already know I got my powers at 15 years old. The planet I'm from, Verders, is separated into 6 ...factions? I guess you call them that. Anyway, Verderians are put into these groups before they're even born and then raised with said group. There's air, water—that's me—, land, technology, fire—gross—, and then finally, the usuals-"

Sam laughs, "I'm guessing it would suck to be in the usuals. That sounds like a shit group."

"Can I continue?", I stare at Sam, unamused. I mean what he said was kind of funny but still. "As I was saying, I'm part of the water faction which is actually the rarest section, the most common being the usuals. Water, air, and fire are considered the warriors of the planet and surrounding worlds, land and technology are the providers and care-givers while the usuals are the leaders and workers. It's very well organized actually."

"So you are just forced to be apart of whatever group you're put into? That doesn't sound very ethical.", Steve says looking concerned for me.

I dryly chuckle, knowing the flaws of my planet, "Oh definitely not but we're kinda stuck with it."

"Why did you say gross to fire? Do you have some unreasonable hatred with them?", Bucky asks, obviously still upset with me.

I look over at Bucky, trying to stop myself from overreacting at his comment. He's just upset and I get that, but it just hits some triggers. "No hatred, there's just always been a rivalry between water and fire. Who could've guessed, right?", I say, making a joke trying to lighten my own mood now.

Natasha must've sensed my dismay and urges me to continue, "Ok, so what can you do?", She asks and I give her a quick nod of appreciation for changing the subject.

"Well, basically anything if it's water related.", I say, using my power to take out water from a cup on the table. I slowly swirl it all around the room, letting the light from outside reflect in the water making this beautiful shine. I can't help but smile as everyone watches in awe. I then continue my explanation, still letting the water travel around the room. "I can control water's movement, obviously.", I gesture to the water in the air. "I can also control it's state; like solid, liquid, gas. And that's really all you can do with water.", I say, shrugging.

"Can we see some examples?", Tony asks with a bossy tone.

"Is this not enough?", I say as I bring the water drifting through the air towards him.

"Can't you do anything... I don't know better?", He says in his classic sassy voice.

Better? I can most definitely do better. Tony must've seen the smirk on my face because he had this fear on his. I turn the blob of water into a replica of Iron Man and make that mini guy fly around the room. "Does this work?", I ask, cockily. I glance to my side and to see Pietro smiling, knowing exactly what I'm about to do next.

Tony shrugs, a bit relieved that I'm not attacking him water, and nods. "I mean, it's okay..." I nod in fake understanding before making the mini Iron Man go straight into Tony's face. "Gah! I just washed my hair yesterday!"

I smile as the whole team starts to laugh at Tony's state. I can't help but look over to see if Bucky's happy with what I did. It's like I need his validation, which is stupid! I'm strong and independent! I do not need his approval!

But he is laughing. He's smiling at something I did. Although the second he notices me looking at him he immediately changes back into his usual stoic expression. I don't understand why I need him to like me, I do not get emotionally attached. It's not
the road that you want to go down...

Bucky then abruptly stands up and walks out of the room without a word.
