towering over me
like the statue of Liberty
you held the knife.
rage burned in your eyes
and dried your tears.
you tried to cry,
emotions choked your throat
as tight as your grasp
on the handle.
riveted to the ground,
clasped between you legs,
light pierced my eyes as
it ricocheted off the blade,
I see you
trapped inside
your body, your mind,
screaming to break free.
am I one of the chains
encasing your true self?
if so,
then strike with the steel
sever the bond
between us
