Chapter 8 - The one with the Law in the library

"Aina..." Nami passed a chai tea to her as they sat down in the coffee shop. "Thank you," Aina took the cup kindly but Nami sighed. "I don't want to interfere with your personal life... but coming from a person who went to high school with Eustass Kid you should listen to me." Nami looked at Aina seriously and she nodded her head. "Don't hang around him, he isn't your friend - the only friend he's had since primary school is, in fact, that man in the mask; Killer, there are many rum-" "No." Aina looked up at Nami with hardened eyes, Nami was highly taken aback by Aina's out of character behaviors, and there was nothing in the world that could've prepared her for that. "What?" Nami asked in hope she heard wrong but she was pretty sure she didn't since the look on Aina's face was unmistakable passion. "I don't care about Kid-kun or Killer-kun's past; I don't even want to hear it, there is always something a person has done that they either regret or hide, Kid-kun or Killer-kun don't try and hide anything but I know not to judge them for what has happened but for the people I see now." Nami's eyes widened and she blinked a few times. "Ah-Aina... I'm so sorry, I never meant to offend you I was just worried but I never knew you felt this way..." Nami toned her voice down and Aina's face once again lit up in a smile. "No worries, - just never tell me who to trust; I always know what I'm doing. Let's walk home!" Aina grabbed her takeaway chai and proceeded to the door. "Oh, sure..." Nami got up befuddled and followed Aina out the door and walked her back to the dorms.

"I'll see you tomorrow! Bye!" Aina waved to Nami and walked into the building complex. "Aina... Who are you?"

"That Nami is one crazy bitch..." Kid muttered as Aina entered in clumsily dropping her keys. "Kid-kun..." Aina twisted her mouth in habit and Kid sighed. "What now?" "Ah... I just wanted to let you know..." She failed at her words and Kid groaned with his back still to her. "Spit it out! Can't you see I'm busy?" She bowed in apology and started to talk really fast. "Ijustwanttoletyouknowidontcareifyouaremean!" He turned around and closed his eyes. "A little slower Aina..." "I just want to let you know I don't care if you are mean..." She blushed but held her head high, this declaration made Kid smirk in amusement just slightly before laughing. "Neither do I." He turned back around to tinker with whatever contraption he was creating this time.

Aina slumped over to her bed and face planted shutting out the day's hectic events. Izo is in hospital, Sanji eagerly agreed to be her new partner- it was all too much for her today so she simply shut her eyes and drifted off.

~Next Day~

Kat packed up her art tools after art class and began to walk to the library to practice her art assignment. "Aina?" Kat saw Aina walking by herself towards the library and quickly hailed her attention. "Kat! Hi!" "You've been pretty quiet today... is everything okay?" They reached the library doors and Aina took a deep breath before removing her coat and shoes. "A lot of things have happened lately, I think I'm just a bit tired, that's all..." "Tired in the fifth week already?" She laughed and Aina nodded. "Wait - is it really only the fifth week? It's hard to tell with classes starting in different weeks... It feels so much longer..." They sat down at a table and Kat watched Aina take out her combat theory work but she simply stared at it. "Aina? Are you sure you're alright?" Aina looked up at Kat before opening her mouth. "Do you think it's right to see someone by how they show themselves today and not to judge them by their past?" Kat looked up sharply and her body froze all over registering the words that had been spoken - but smiled at Aina before putting her hand over hers. "Of course! Most definitely Aina, you're so charismatic... and cute! Like a little bunny!" Kat laughed and Aina joined her, putting two fingers above her head making little bunny ears.
