Chapter 15: You kissed who?

Maya and Matteo said bye to their parents at the airport. "Bye kids don't forget to stay safe and behave please." Said her mom worrying. "We'll be fine mom we take care of each other." Matteo said and put his arm around Maya. They weren't very affectionate as it wasn't what they were used to but they knew that they could count on one another.

"I think we should have a sibling day" Matteo said turning the car on. "I think you are so right" Maya smiled. They sang songs as they drove to their favorite place to eat. "Fred's dinner" it's a restaurant they use to go on their birthdays as kids. "So what are you gonna get." Maya asked her brother as she looked at the menu. "a bacon cheeseburger" Matteo said putting the menu down. "Ooo I want that too and an Oreo milkshake!!" Maya exclaimed. "Okay okay I'll order." Matteo said playfully rolling his eyes. "I'll pay half don't worry" she reminded.

Moon walked up to our table. "Omg hey guys" She said cheerfully. "Moon you work here?" The siblings said in sync. "Yeah it's new but what can I get you guys." She said switching to professional mode. "2 bacon cheese burgers and a Oreo and strawberry milkshake please." Matteo then handed her the menus. "Okay coming right up." She smiled and grabbed the menus walking away.

After eating they went for a drive. They music was playing but Maya paused it. "Matteo can I ask you something serious." She said quietly. "Yeah what's wrong?" He said concerned. "How do you know if you like someone?" Maya questioned. "Well that person makes you happy and you'd feel safe around them." He explained. "What if it's someone you don't expect to like" she asked in a low voice. "Like who?" He questioned. "I think Sam and I almost kissed the other day when you called me." She finally let out. "I ruined the moment?" He said. "That's all you have to say?" She asked surprised that, that was his only question. "I'm not gonna judge you Maya you're my sister and you're annoying but you're all I have and I don't care who you like as long as you're happy." For the first time I saw a side of Matteo I'd never seen. He acted tough but he was the biggest softie. "I think that's about the sweetest thing you've ever said to me" Mayas voice started to shake as a tear came down. "Please don't cry I don't want to cry." He sighed. "I'm sorry you know I'm emotional." She whined. "So are you gonna tell her that you like her?" He asked now obviously very intrigued. "I'm kind of nervous what if she's just confused and think she likes me but doesn't" Maya said in doubt. "You won't know unless you talk to her." Matteo stated.

Now at home and in her room. Maya kept thinking of ways to tell Sam. She knew she had to do it in person which was what scared her. Maya decided to call her best friend Miguel.

-Call-
Miguel: Heyy Maya how are you?

Maya: Hii I'm good how are you?

Miguel: I'm good too I haven't heard from you in a while.

Maya: I know we need to hang out soon but I have something to tell you or ask about?

Miguel: sure what is it?

Maya: That day where we were all supposed to hang out at gold n stuff where you guys actually busy or what is a set up?

Miguel: Don't be mad but it was a set up. The group and I noticed how close you and Sam were getting so we assumed there was something more and since you two clearly weren't asking each other out we set it up.

Maya: I'm not mad it's actually sweet but a heads up would have been nice.

Miguel: Why'd you ask?

Maya: Sam and I almost kissed that day.

Miguel: Omg are serious!! Why didn't you?

Maya: Well my parents were in town and Matteo called me at that exact moment and we just didn't talk about it.

Miguel: What happened after?

Maya: I told her why Matteo called and offered to drop her off but she said the day didn't have to end and she spent the night.

Miguel: oh yeah she definitely likes you. I say go for it

Maya: I'm thinking of going over to her house and telling her

Miguel: I think you should I mean there's clearly chemistry and you should see where it goes

Maya: Did you know that you're my favorite person ever.

Miguel: Before or after Sam

Maya: Before obviously I like her but you've been there for me since day one

Miguel: Actually you had my back and that's when I knew we were gonna be the best of friends

Maya: We need to hang out soon

Miguel: Yes after you tell Sam how you feel

Maya: Fine I'll tell her but you'll have to tell Tori you like her

Miguel: what?

Maya: come on now I've been hanging out with Sam and I know you've been hanging out with the new girl toriii

Miguel: That's a conversation for another day go tell her already

Maya: Okay but I'm not letting the Tori thing gooo

Miguel: Byeee

Maya:  Byeee

Maya hung up the call and she knew she couldn't wait anymore it was now or never. She got ready. If she was going to confess her feelings she had to look cute. She had a blowout hair look and wore a simple but cute outfit and headed downstairs. She knocked on Matteo's door. "Matteo can I use the car please!!" She shouted. "For??" He yelled back. "I'm going over to Sam's house" and with that Matteo quickly opened the door "here you go drive safe and good luck!!" He said sticking his head out the door and giving her the keys.

As she was driving so many different scenarios on what she could say. She pulled up in front of her house and got out and stood there for a couple of minutes.

Maya got the courage to knock on the door. A very surprised Sam opened the door. "Hey I know it's late but I had to tell you something." Maya said sheepishly. "Hey it's okay come in" Sam said with a warm smile. They say on the couch and Maya continued. "I don't really know how to tell you but these past weeks we've been hanging out I've felt like there's been a connection. The other day at golf n stuff I could have swore we almost kissed. What I want to say is I like you but I'm not sure if you're into girls-" Maya got cut off during her rant by Sam cuffing her cheek and pulling Maya into a kiss. Maya was thrown off but put her hand on her waist and deepened the kiss. "I like you too Maya a lot." Sam confessed pulling away. "I knew you liked me" Maya smirked. "Yeah right" Sam laughed as she playfully rolled her eyes.
