That night, the entire village gathered in the longhouse at the behest of the chief to discuss the possible scourge they all faced.
The entire village was angry and distraught.
" Bang!" "Hey everyone! Listen to your chief!" shouted Sven. Ingrid Olga and Sven stood next to Eric as he delivered his verdict on the matter through a speech.
Eric stood and spoke to everyone in the longhouse.
" I am aware that all of you are scared of this impending invasion from King Harald's army. I can assure you that we the royal family feel the same anger and pain that you do. But, I would like to encourage you all to see this invasion as a moment of true bravery and valor. We will not submit ourselves to king Harald, in fact, we will fight back. I received word that many kingdoms scattered around our kingdom reject this king and will pledge manpower to us to fight this invasion! Come on everybody! We are the Vikings! We have fought before, and we will fight again! For Valhalla!"
The longhouse fell deafly silent.....murmurs spread from one inch to the other in a matter of seconds.
Suddenly, the entire longhouse burst with screams of hope and courage. The royal family gazed upon the crowd of supporters with a wide smile.
Over the course of the next three weeks, the entire village participated in the drafting of a plan to defend frost Heim.
Defensive towers were erected, and traps were set outside the village gate. Everyone's sense were on high alert....
Public prayers became common in the days before the invasion and sacrificial rituals were held for the mighty god Odin!
" King Harald is here! King Harald is here!" shouted one of the watchmen.
Ingrid gazed upon her family with a glimmer of hope and fear.... they proceeded to walk out of the gates and rally the troops.
They held their axes and shields with a firm grip and put on a face of fear and hope as they invoked the gods name!
The gates opened and the arrows rained down...
