SALVATORE BOARDING HOUSE

[Elena is waiting for Elijah to wake up. Suddenly, he wakes up. Elena rushes over to him. He's in shock when he sees her.]

Elena: Elijah.

Elijah: Katerina!

Klaus and Rebekah threw their heads back and groaned as Elena appeared, internally cursing their brother for his infatuation with the women of the Petrova line and the troubles it brought them. They had hoped that after falling in love with the same face twice, the allure of it had finally grown old—especially after both women found their way into his sister's bed.

Kol's reaction was silent but carried with it an air of danger that the other did not. Elena and Jeremy Gilbert were the very banes of his existence. He hoped one day to have the pleasure of driving a stake through their hearts and returning the favour they so generously gave him. However, his anger dimmed when he remembered the glorious revenge his sister enacted in retaliation for his death.

Desperation was as powerful a motivator as any, and there was no one quite as desperate as Katherine Pierce. It took only a single text and the promise of her freedom to have Jeremy's throat latched between Silas' awaiting jaws.

Klaus had never given him a better gift.

ENGLAND, 1492

The Olympians frowned, confused as to how these mortals had managed to evade the Underworld for so long. Hades, especially, was eager to discover why they had yet to enter his realm. Even Poseidon seemed blindsided, realising he had never bothered questioning Klaus on how old she truly was.

It dawned on him suddenly that he knew very little about the mother of his children. She hadn't lied, per se—he wasn't ignorant of the kind of creature she was—but she had always been tight-lipped when it came to the supernatural, just as he was with his godly duties, so the topic went unspoken. Yet, from the look on his face now, he was coming to regret that decision.

[Inside a mansion, a party is underway. The room is filled with guests talking to each other. Trevor is speaking with a woman. He walks over to Elijah.]

Elijah: Ah, good evening, Trevor. I am pleased you could join us.

Trevor: I could not miss the birthday celebration.

Elijah: No, considering the gift you claim to bear. Where is this mystery girl of which you speak?

Trevor: Right this way.

[Elijah follows him. They join Katherine.]

Trevor: My dear.

Katherine: Hello.

[Elijah is in shock.]

SALVATORE BOARDING HOUSE

Elena: Elijah! It's me, it's Elena.

Elijah: Oh, my God.

Annabeth's hand shot up in the air, catching the attention of her boyfriend's mother like a student would their teacher. Klaus smiled softly at the young girl, waving her ahead to continue. "How do they look exactly alike if they're from completely different time periods?" she asked, curious as to what she could learn from the woman.

Unlike the gods who were free to flout about the mortal world as they pleased, the Mikaelsons had no choice but to live amongst humans and had witnessed the rise and fall of some of history's greatest eras. A brain containing knowledge like that—it was a child of Athena's wet dream.
