Ch.2: The Weather Just Got Hotter

I arrive at the beach house knowing Sarah is going to mention that we should go to the mall and do a fashion show, and for once i'm not interested. Before my fist reaches the door to knock I hear a very girly, exciting, high pitched scream coming from inside. Then another, and another. The door flies open with the sight of Sarah, Kayla, Ryan, and Ella with smiles on their faces. I see them occasionally but this time, what on earth did Sarah plan??

As I make my way in, they all start to get comfy on the big couch in the living room. Ella stays by my side.

Ella leans in next to my ear, "She didn't tell us any details yet, but she did say it's going to change our entire summer as we know it!"

We make our way to the couch, it's a light baby blue, matches the beach themed beach house. Sarah seemed to have gotten these super cute seashell pillows to add to the theme, I jokingly tell her I will steal them if she doesn't tell me where she bought them from.

"So... are you silly gooses ready to hear what i've been planning?" Sarah says as she's tapping her fingers together like an evil genius, i question if she's already drunk. We all nod with smiles on our faces with eagerness.

Sarah fixes the way she's sitting, but frustrated that she can't get comfortable so she stands up to announce. The rest of us yelling "Hurry it up already!"

"Alright alright! So.. every summer for the last three years we've gone to parties, traveled, we even colored our hair to shades we will NEVER get again. But this my friends- something we've never thought of before." Sarah says with her hand motions, then she quickly pulls out a folded piece of paper out of her sweatpants pocket.

"Our August Bucket List!" She holds it in the air. We all giggle to ourselves. "Girl, that's it??" One of our voices quietly says from the couch. And then, the most devious smirk appears on Sarah's already excited face.

"We are doing dares, taking risks, breaking rules, breaking hearts. WE are having the kind of fun to look back at and say 'Never Again!' but end up smiling with a ton of stories to tell!" Sarah points down the list that she's already written with colorful summer stickers along the edges.

All of us aren't goody goody but we're not troublemakers. Well, Sarah's wealthy and if she does get into some trouble, she always gets out of it. I fear that this last month of summer, one of us will become like her.

Smirks start to form on Ryan and Kayla's faces, "I'm in." they both say in unison. Then they laugh.

"I gue- Uh- Suuuure!?" Ella hesitates but after the girls give her a look, she caves in. "Fine! What do we have to lose! But guys nothing too crazy we're going off to college!"

"Don't you worry, I care about you girls, I'd never put you all in actual danger" I trust the calmness in Sarah's voice.

They all stare at me but all that comes to mind is boys. I never had any luck with guys, but perhaps this time I can truly not care what happens. I glance at every one of their faces as they are all leaned in waiting for my response. The only words that come out of my mouth, "..Hell Yeah!!!", seemed to get everyone hyped up because they're screaming again out of joy.

We pass around the list, there are surprised Ahhhs and Oohhhs. There are gasps, loud laughing with some snorting. We are all surprised with the choices Sarah came up with. So once we do the dares, we have to take a photo or video with a digital camera we all have assigned to us. We can either do the dares on our own, or all together, but we all have to complete every thing on that list. And if you chicken out, the rest of your summer you'll be booed and put in the video and photo album as the biggest loser. Not a horrible punishment but i'd rather have fun. Some of the dares have to do with boys, I get excited but nervous. However, I won't be seeing any of these people for years after I go to college, so I'm ready to get out there.
