Does Italy know Germany is the Holy Roman Empire?

It's almost undeniable. HRE and Germany look exactly the same and both wanted to control the world. And, history wise, the Holy Roman Empire kinda became Germany, or something like that (I don't know all the history behind it but I know the two are related. Please comment if you do know)

Anyways, the question is this: Does Italy know who Germany is and is not letting onto it? Italy does some pretty couple like things to Germany, is this because he knows?
