(March 1915)

Once upon a time, there was a red engine. He had 4 driving wheels and 4 leading wheels. This engine's name is Edward. He worked on the Furness Railway. His class, the K2s, were used on express trains along the Cumbrian Coast line. Edward had lots of friends, but his closest were Albert, a Furness J1, and Kayden, who is his brother.

One afternoon, Edward arrived at Barrow-In-Furness with one of his express trains. He enjoyed the good long run.

"Right on time again, Edward," the stationmaster complimented, "I don't know how you do it."

" Oh, it's my duty to get my passengers here on time," Edward smiled, "anything to keep the railway running."

The stationmaster smiled as Edward uncoupled from his train to turn around and refuel for the return trip.

Once that was done, Edward went back to his train. After all the passengers boarded the coaches and the guard blew his whistle, Edward set off.

After a long day of work, Edward retired for the night at the shed at Barrow. Kayden was already there, too

"Ey up, Edward," Kayden said.

"Hello, Kayden. How was your day?" Edward replied.

"Same old, same old. Just taking express trains. How about yours?"

"Just the usual. Anything interesting happen today?"

"No, not really. Not like I was expecting anything interesting to happen. I do wish something would happen. When I mean something, I mean something positive."

"I'm sure something will happen," Edward smiled, "anything sort of thing could happen on this railway."

Kayden sighed. He knew that Edward was right. After all, Edward had been around longer than him, due to him being built in 1896 while Kayden was built in 1900.

"I heard that they are building a new railway on that island called Sodor," Kayden said, "Apparently, they built a lift bridge connecting from here to Sodor."

"That sounds interesting," Edward replied, "I wish I could go over to Sodor to see what it's like."

"Me too. Sodor sounds like a lovely place."

Then, the shed master walked up to the two engines.

"Good evening, you two," the shed master said.

"Good evening," said the two engines in unison.

"You two have heard of the Island of Sodor?" he asked.

"Yes, sir. We were just talking about it," Edward replied.

"Well, I have news for you, Edward. Apparently, the controller of the railway, Sir Bertram Topham Hatt, needs some engines to help with the construction. He requested for Furness Railway number 37. You'll be going with another engine from this railway," the shed master informed.

"So, you are saying that I'll be going to Sodor?"

"Indeed."
