After her phone call with Lalisa, rosé felt a sudden boost of energy, she contemplated whether she should go to the local convenience store and get another snack, or just sit home and watch something, she went with the latter. When she brought her laptop and her ice cream out to watch some shows, she didn't mean random celebrities interviews on youtube, that wasn't how she planned to spend her scarce night at all, but here she is, on her bed, mourning once again her saddening state, watching other people live her dream.
She essentially watched singers's interviews, but somehow ended up watching actors's too, rosé didn't know much about cinema, she never had the chance to explore that world, she sometimes had the opportunity to watch some k-dramas with Lalisa, but she never really knew any of the actors playing the roles, they were just characters, and the shows were just stories, nothing more.
Her attention was quickly captured by a familiar face, she guided her hand on the mouse pad precisely to click on a certain video, she stared at the thumbnail for a while, hesitantly, she closed her eyes and clicked on it, her mood was already sour.. let it worsen for all she cares.
« Hello, we are the cast for the drama 'Shatter me', thank you for having us ! » she heard them say in unison, there were four people in the video, they were being interviewed by a popular web channel, in English, so probably shot in the Usa, the show was produced by Netflix, which is a popular streaming platform, it all was just adding water to the sea, weren't all of these people already super famous? It wasn't fair, those at the top get more exposure, attention and opportunities they don't even need, while those at the bottom watch in envy, you cannot blame her for being human.
« Eunwoo, or should I say, Kenji? You were amazing in the show, you stole all the lights, with your incredibly fast increasing popularity, what do you plan to do as future projects? » the interviewer asked the raven haired man, to that Rosé finally decided to divert her attention back to the screen, looking attentively at his handsome face. « I plan to go back to Korea and see, I want to connect again with my music, perhaps do some Korean dramas, a-lot of my fans have been asking for it anyway, so yeah..nothing in particular, I'm just experimenting with the arts I guess » he laughed it off, and the interview proceeded naturally, yet rosé was stuck on his answer, she hated him, she hated how privileged he was, this man had the chance to choose, if he pleases, he stays in the US and do more records-breaking works, and if he wills, he goes back to his country and earns more money and fame, and if he desires, he makes music and call it a day. It was this simple for him. She hated herself for hating him for it.
She recalled her moment with his billboard this morning, how annoyingly perfect he had looked, how she tried to escape his eyes, his eyes, so stubbornly piercing through her features she forgot this was just a two dimensional picture of him, annoyed, she closed her laptop and turned to the window next to her bed, it was past midnight, rosé was sure, the sky was clear, the moon was high up in an endless darkness, not one cloud interrupted that canvas, the stars weren't that shiny at all, so all of rosé's attention was stolen by the moon, it was there, doing nothing in particular, yet doing everything it should do, it was distant, it was always distant, yet tonight, it felt disturbingly far, they say the further the moon the prettier, but rosé have had enough of pretty things, she wanted to feel its ugliness eats her up until she no longer could mourn. Until she was no longer human.
To her, Eunwoo felt distant too, almost like he lived in a parallel universe different to hers, he felt like a legend, he was ahead of her by a couple of light years, she tries to catch up to him and his kind, but to no avail. He was as far as the moon.
Rosé, have had enough of today, maybe if she sleeps, she wakes up to better reality.
