Tyler Hernandez, not necessarily too popular, but popular enough to be left alone, never bullied badly.
Tyler was hanging out with the Baseball team, not listening or saying anything like always. He never enjoyed his Baseball 'friends'. He was only there so he could have a way into collage. To go with his sister of course, who got a scholarship for mechanics club. "Hello, earth to Tyler??" He heard a loud voice yell. It was Barron, the Heather Chandler of their highschool. "Huh..?" Tyler said seeming half conscious. "Dude, we've been talking to you for the past 10 minutes! Well, i was talking to everyone, including you." "Okay? So just repeat what you said." Tyler said rolling his eyes. "We're planning this huge thing, where we're gonna beat the shit out of that nerdy kid." Tyler paused, the 'nerdy kid' in Question was Logan, Logan Fields. Tyler barely spoke to Logan, they were friends but not as close as most friends would be, but he felt bad for him, the entire Baseball team tormenting the poor guy. There was no way Tyler was going to do that. "Why though?" Tyler questioned, which made Barron mad. "Why are you questioning me?" "I just wanted to know, calm down." Barron scoffed, dropping the conversation angrily.
The day later Tyler was with Taylor, when he walked in on Barron and a couple of other kids making fun of Logan. "What are you gonna do about it, tell your parents?" Barron laughed, Tyler and Taylor walked up to the crowd, examining what's happening. Thats when Barron slapped Logan, and shoved him against the lockers causing him to fall. Taylor immediately ran up to protect Logan, telling Barron off. Barron slowly walked away, leaving Taylor, Tyler, and Logan. Logan stared sympathetically at Tyler for him to help him. Tyler stood awkwardly, not knowing what to do, ruin his reputation or walk with Barron.. Tyler locked eyes with Logan, Tyler gives him a soft sad glance, before walking away with Barron. Logan watched as Tyler did this, he was hurt by this.. more hurt than he should've been.
Once school was over, Taylor caught up with Tyler. "What the hell was that earlier?!" Taylor scolded him, he immediately knew what Taylor was talking about. "I- I don't know..! I didn't know what to do in the moment.." Taylor kept quiet, walking silently in front of Tyler, Ignoring him the walk home. Once they got home, Tyler immediately went to his bed. He was just thinking. "Whats gonna happen once me and Logan have to see each other in the shadow realm.." He thought to himself..
[12:00 AM]
Tyler woke up in the bus graveyard, along with everyone else. Ashlyn begins planning for something, but Tyler couldn't focus on that. He was zoned out. "Hello, earth to Tyler??" Aiden snapped in front of his face. "Huh..? Oh sorry." Tyler said quietly, this wasn't normal for him. Normally he would've yelled at Aiden or something.. He seemed entirely burnt out. Aiden looked around confused at everyone, thats when Taylor began to explain. "Today he ignored Logan getting bullied, he just walked away with Barron. I don't know why he's the one upset about it, it seems he's just fishing for attention or something." Taylors words stung like acid to his veins, he stayed quiet and dug his head into his knees. "Dude, the hell?" Aiden questioned, looking at Tyler. "Why would he do that?" Ashlyn asked, Taylor responded quickly. "I don't know! He was being such a dick!" Tyler started to mumble something, but nobody understood what he said. "What..?" Ashlyn asked him. "You all don't understand the entire situation.." Tyler murmured. "What more is there to understand?!" Taylor yelled. "You all don't know what it's like to be a part of 'the populars'. If i would have done anything my ass would have been beaten..!" Tyler said, slightly yelling. "So? That doesn't mean you can just disregard what happened to Logan." Ashlyn said. "I know it was stupid to do, but you don't understand what they would have done to me. You all don't understand what it's like to be 'popular', it's fucking hell!" Tyler yelled. "Oh please, how hard could it be to be liked?" Ashlyn asked, "Do you know everything I had to do to be liked?! It was hell trying to get everyone to like me. And even now, im the least liked of everyone 'popular'. And its because I protect all your names when they drag it through the mud! Just yesterday they planned to 'beat Logans ass' and I stopped them from doing it. They basically already hate me because I protect you all. And i don't want to more bullied than what they already say about me. So sorry for protecting you all while protecting myself as-well." Tyler blurted out. Making everyone silent, except for Taylor. "I get that, but that just shows that you care more about your popularity than your friends!" "You're putting words in my mouth." "Taylor, i can speak for myself.." Logan buts in. "Im sorry Logan, i was just.. afraid.." "So you left without a word?! You made me feel like nothing! You were 'Afraid'. Good for you! All i wanted was for you to help me..!" "Im sorry! Im just scared that the baseball team will replace me.. I need a Scholarship and baseball is the only sport im not dogshit at, and i sure as hell cant get a real scholarship because of how damn stupid i am."
The room, or bus, goes quiet, tears streaming down Tylers cheeks.
Everyone sat in silence, Logan and Tyler staring at each other, as clanging on the door of the bus began, Logan was the closest to the door of the bus, with Tyler behind him. A phantom jumps into the bus, Logan jumps back as it lunged towards him, his heart skips a beat. His eyes squeezed closed tightly, but nothing happened.. he opens his eyes to see Tyler in front of him, Blood splattered across the wall of the bus. Tyler collapsed onto the ground as Aiden throws a hatchet at the phantom, killing it. "TYLER?!" Taylor screamed. Logan kneeled down towards Tyler, checking his pulse, tears streaming down his face... They all knew that you could still live if you got killed in the Shadow realm.. but what if you were killed by a phantom..?
"Why did you do that Tyler?"
I don't know.. actually,
I do know..
Obviously to protect Logan from getting hurt.. right?
Wrong.
In all honesty it was quite selfish of me to jump infront of you.
With everything happening recently, the fighting with Barron, or my friends..
it was all a lot to handle..
So in truth, i didn't to it to save your life..
IT WAS TO END MINE.
It's been a year since Tyler died.. Logan hasn't been the same since. He pinned the blame of everything that night on himself. His grades were slipping terribly, he began wearing trashier clothing, quit carrying about anything.. boy was he going through the stages of grief.. but today was the day he decided to take the last stage into action.. REVENGE.
It was a normal Thursday, but after school Logan had planned something..
That night, 12:00 AM, everyone in the Shadow realm, Tyler obviously not, but Logan was missing. Everyone decided to investigate where he was, they went to Logans house, Ashlyn being first to step into the house.. everything seemed normal, but as Ashlyn slowly opened the door to Logans room.. "OH MY GOD..!" Ashlyn screeched, tears flooding her eyes. She slams the door closed. "What happened?!" Aiden immediately ran over to her, "LOGAN.. HE.. HE SHOT HIMSELF.." Everyone stood in shock.. "w-what..?" Taylor says quietly.. tears forming in her eyes.
They all ran into his room, there was a note, but all it read was
IM SORRY.
