TSFTLT!Planet is a power source. Like they literally radiate power.
The reason that they want them over the totem is that they're easily able to emit twice the amount of power as it with ease. Whats the point in having a totem to power one ship when you can get them to power twenty?
Downside is that is physically drains Planet A LOT, so occasional downtime is needed so that he doesn't literally fucking die from overexertion.
(Bonus: Despite the totem being gone, some of the lights still flickered when Planet walked through the town. Their power doesn't work as well in Parrot's world as it does on Planet's. But he does still emit small amounts of energy. It's how the people from Planet's world were able to find them in the first place.)
