Chapter Six

A few weeks has passed since the night the power went out, and everything has worked just fine. Ella and Jason are more lovable than usual, not the usual sexually active couple anymore; more like fully in love and love only, no sexual desire anymore. It is almost like Ella needed to get pregnant to make Jason feel that the relationship was serious. You could say pregnancy does change everything.

Amyleea and I have been talking more often, more than before that's for sure. We have been going out from time to time; I wouldn't call it dating, if I am honest, we're just hanging out. She keeps talking to me about the stuff she reads and the things she learns everyday about the outside. She likes to hear rumors, she says they help her picture reality; and to think that in the past we pictured our fantasies instead.

Both sides have acquired confidence from the other and I think we reached the point of "to-be-lovers".

"Hey, Haytham! How'd you sleep?" She wrapped her arms around my shoulders and hugged me. I hated not being able to really feel her warmth, to not ever be able to smell her scent. I hated it, but I have to remain quiet and settle for roleplay- just like everyone else-.

"Hello, Amyleea! I've slept great! I've never slept better before. How

about you?" I send and sink on my chair.

She sighed and sent, "I did sleep good, is just the morning that concerned me..."

"Why?" I sent while straightening up on my chair, worried.

"There are news. Didn't you receive them?"

"No. What? Tell me!"

"They are going to 'reduce' population. Supposedly, the buildings are getting over populated, that is why the power surged back then. There's too much people using the power, so they decided to 'move' the extras to another building. I don't know, but that sounds fishy."

"Sounds fishier when only you received it, but not me."

"Maybe it went to female computers first, then to males."

"I don't think so..."

"Well... What can we do?"

"Not let them take you."

This is it... If they are taking the extras they mean the single, right? The ones that are not with a Virtual Mate, yet? Wait, I am single... Why didn't I get it?! There must be an explanation. I told her I needed some time to think and I disconnected. I sat on my bed and lied down and tried to tie the loose knots together.

I have been here for hours now, and got nothing. I decided to log on and the first thing I saw was a notice from the Center of Management. It said the exact same thing as to what Amyleea told me. I immediately messaged Jason, he has a Virtual Mate and soon to have a child. If I was right, he must have not received the message...

"Hey, Jason, bro'! What up?"

"Hey! Nothing much, bro' just chillin' with my wonderful girl. You?"

"Worried, bro'. Did you get a message from the Center of Management?"

"From the Center of Management? Na'hh, what I did get was a message from the Care Center, telling me about the development of my baby... Why, bro'?"

So I was right! Single virtuals are the extras! "No, nothing just wondering."
