Zyla had no idea why the caregiver was so nice to her. No caning, no shouting, not even trying to order her around. Ms Jennifer, her caregiver, had this big smile while humming some off-pitch songs. She even made some waffles for Zyla. Something was wrong, Zyla thought, something that would make Ms Jennifer happy. One thing she could think of was that Ms Jennifer getting rid of her. However, she was turning 18 soon, so the chance of people adopting her was minimal, and Ms Jennifer could not kick her out of the orphanage yetMaybe they had found her parents, Zyla hoped. As instructed, Zyla buttoned her white shirt and put on her pinafore. She stood in front of the mirror, examining her clothing. Though the clothes were too big for a lean body, Zyla still adored them as always. These clothes were donated by an old couple who passed away a few years ago. Zyla would consider these clothes her best, but that was the first time she had worn them. Ms Jennifer had always ordered her to do the dirty and tiring work; therefore, Zyla had never worn them, knowing she might dirty them. However, today, Ms Jennifer told her to wear her best clothes, and she finally got to wear them.

I hoped every day would be like this, Zyla thought. At least I had something decent to eat. Then she heard the unmistakable shout from Ms Jennifer, calling her to get downstairs. Zyla looked at the only waffles left on her plate and stuffed them into her mouth before rushing downstairs. She did not know when she could get another decent meal like this. When she reached the first floor, she saw a round, plump figure standing by the door. She knew immediately that the figure was Ms Jennifer. Ms Jennifer turned when she heard Zyla and managed to squeeze a meaty smile. Zyla gulped down her waffle and walked towards Ms Jennifer. Zyla always suspected that most of the orphanage food had gone into Ms Jennifer's stomach. Ms Jennifer held Zyla's head and pushed her out of the door forcefully. Zyla did not predict that the force would be so strong that she tripped over her foot and fell forward, her head bumping into a firm body and her arms wrapping around the waist to regain her balance. Zyla closed her eyes, unwilling to face the truth of how she had made a fool of herself in front of a stranger.

"When are you thinking of getting off me?" a voice came from above her. Zyla immediately released her arms tied around the person's waist and stepped back so quickly that she nearly fell again when a strong hand held her shoulder, allowing her to gain her balance. The person chuckled and teased," Are you always like this? Falling into a stranger." Zyla bit her lip, her cheek burning. She lifted her head slowly, finally seeing the stranger's face.

The person was stunningly good-looking. His eyes were forest green, and his skin tone was sandy beige. Zyla couldn't tell his hair colour as he was wearing a black top hat, though Zyla wondered why he would be wearing a top hat on such a hot day, as top hats were not that popular in the 21st century. Then Zyla's gaze landed on the person's clothes. Though she knew nothing about suits, she envied how clean and neat the suit was.

"My name is Blamore," the person introduced himself and waited for Zyla's focus to return to him before continuing," I am here to bring you to Abnormal Academy." Zyla lifted one of her eyebrows. Blamore sensed her confusion and explained," Apparently, your caregiver had reported you for being a psychopath. For safety issues, I will have to bring you to Abnormal Academy for further treatments..." Blamore hung on the last two words, sending a shiver down Zyla's spine. She turned and glared at Ms Jennifer, who had a smug smile on her fat face. Blamore was waiting, too, and Zyla knew what he was waiting for. He wanted her to blurt out that she was not a psychopath and try to defend herself so he could take her away with force. Well, she thought, it would be better than staying in the orphanage.

"Take me away then," Zyla said, "Not that I want to stay here any longer." Blamore took off his hat and bowed," Well then, follow me Ms Alinec," he said without showing his emotions. Zyla nodded and followed Blamore to a black limo parked at the entrance of the orphanage.

Good job #001, a voice whispered in Zyla's head, we will be out soon.
