Last Chapter

Graduation day. The most awaited day of the seniors is already here. The auditorium is already filled with students in their togas and garlands around their necks. Students were asked to line at the back so that the program can start. Parents are at the seats provided for them.

One by one, students walked down the aisle and waited at their seats. They are arranged by section, from first to second to third. After all the students passed by, the program started.

HYERI'S POV

Just my luck. Why me of all people? Why him of all people?

If you're wondering why I'm whining like a retarded seal, well blame it on the president. Why? Well, our lovely school student council president arranged our seating arrangement and he just have to place me next to him. By him I mean is Kai. KIM. JONG. IN. Just when I'm already moving on, our retard of a president Kris, whose also our class mate and Kai's friend set this up. Ugh, I hate you Kris.

"Hey Hyeri." Kai said oh so softly I could melt. What the heck's wrong with me? Ugh...

"Hey..."

"Look, this is already our last seeing each other. I don't want to spend it with you still ignoring me."

"I'm sorry Kai -"

"I told you to call me Jongin."

"- I didn't mean to ignore you." I said like I wasn't interrupted.

He glared a little but let it pass. "I just wanna talk with you like how we used to do before."

"Okay." Gah...I'm being a bitch.

"Hyeri..." he sighed. "...what happened? Why do you keep ignoring me?"

"You wouldn't understand. Besides, it's already our last day, it will be useless. Nothing's gonna change even if I tell you."

"Why? Just tell me, did I do something wrong?"

"You didn't do anything wrong. It's just that..."

"What?"

"...I like you. There, I already said it." There was silence between us. He just kept quiet. I took a glance at him and saw him with an expression on his face that I can't describe. "I know it's stupid. We're bestfriends since diapers and had a crush on you. I didn't have the courage to tell you."

"Why?"

"Huh?" I asked, confused.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"I didn't want to destroy our friendship. I didn't want to destroy the little relationship we had."

"Since when? Since when did you like me?"

"Since first year highschool. I've been crushing on my bestfriend for 4 years."

"First year? I've liked you since third grade!" he said loudly, but not loud enough to let the others hear.

"Third grade? But..."

"I've liked you since then. You've never noticed it but I've been a bit more overprotective of you since then. I like you but like you, I don't want to destroy the friendship that we have. I've gave up last year and started crushing on Hyoyeon. She's the next best girl next to you."

Now, it was my turn to be silent. He likes me. No, scratch that. He LIKED me. Since third grade, he liked me, but I didn't even notice. We're both dense, huh?

"We're both dense, huh?" he said, speaking out my thoughts.

"Yeah, we're both dense."

"Congratulations to the graduates of year 2013!" the emcee announced and cheers were heard everywhere. Kai smiled at me and hugged me. I responded by hugging back. My first friend and first love, I won't be seeing him anymore. This is our last day together. After that, we'll be busy preparing for college.

"Congrats Hyeri." He whispered. "I love you." He kissed my forehead and let me go.

"Congrats Jongin." I whispered. "I love you too." I wiped my tears and turned my back to him. "Goodbye." I said and walked away.
