The year is now 2023 over 183 years since the suicide of Melanor Smith. I still don't believe she committed suicide there was no justification for it she was a Newley wed and so very happy, as they say, I think someone else happened.I have pondered on this for years which now brings me to how this happened. I am standing on the very island Melanor Smith committed suicide. The dats today is the 18/7/2023 over 183 years since the suicide, I have mad sure i have everything i could need, my cameras, spare batteries, sleeping bag, pillow and other essentials. The boat departs soon after a quick brief of what the weather would be like tomorrow and an estimate time for me to be picked up. I start to flick through the bunch of keys looking for the one labelled 'Lighthouse'. I found it then slotted the key into the lock, turned it and a cold breeze ran past me as i opened the door and looked inside to find the eerie staircase leading to the top. I set up a camera facing outside the door as soon other researchers had said that you can hearing the whirling of a boats engine near the dock. I made my way up the staircase after making sure it was recording and set up yet another camera this time facing the spot melanor allegedly jumped from. I then set up my sleeping area and waited. In the meantime while waiting I took some pictures, then it happened, at 9:30pm a gorgeous women in white appeared at the top of the lighthouse taking in the air. I slowly approached her and asked her what here name was. She didn't respond to me the first time so i asked again
'Why do you want to know?'
She replied, i looked at her for a bit before responding
'Are you Melanor Smith?'
She seemed to tense up as I said that. She then corrected her posture and spoke,
'Yes, she is me, why should it matter to you though?'
I stepped backed a little in shock then thought to myself, am i really talking to a 100 yers old ghost? I sighed sighed then replied
'I wanted to know what happened that night, I know you didn't jump from that ledge Melanor'
She tensed up almost if a cold breeze had passed through her and with a shaky voice now she spoke yet again
'I do not wish to speak of that day.'
She paused
'It was.. it was just...'
She sighed
'Unspeakable?'
Is asked, which she turned to face me and nodded
'Precisely'
She turned back to gazing aimlessly at the sea, I sighed then turned to go and grab my things and heard a shaky breath
'If u do want to know'
I turned around and we were no facing each other again
'Then i shall tell you'
I then felt a feeling I haven't felt before, the feeling could only be described as an out of body experience
'We were oh so happy'
I snapped out of my trance and turned to see her staring in awe at something or someone
'Is that... you and John?'
She nodded to me without taking her eyes of the scene in front of us
'Newly weds we were, we had just married the week prior'
I watched then enter and run up the stairs, giggling. We slowly made our way up the stairs. We found ourself at the top of the lighthouse watching then slow dance to a song playing out of their portable radio it seems, the song then ended and they turned to gaze at the sea.
'I love you my dear Melanor'
I watched on as John turned to her smiling in awe
'Oh John stop it you charmer'
She giggled, they both looked so happy and content with each other
'Ding, Ding, Ding'
I felt as though I entered back into my body, i as at the lighthouse exactly where i was but without the presence of Melanor. I switched on my phone and it read 12:02am. Was that it? Do i have to wait until next year now? I lay down and sigh and close my eyes and listen to the howling of the wind. I breathe in.
'Ring, Ring'
I sigh and pick up my phone, this time it reads
'Incoming call from: Alexxx :))'
I stare at my phone and blink a couple times before picking it up
'Hello?'
'Hey Charlie!!'
I hear Alex scream down the phone and I have to take it away from my ear slightly
'Jeez Alex'
'Sorry! Anyways, how is the whole investigation going then?'
I audibly groan
'I do NOT want to talk about it right now, i am so tired.'
'Okay...'
He sounded a little defeated
'Would you just like to talk for a while alex?'
I sigh
'Uhmmmm of course!'
.
.
.
'Look Alex, i need to go now.'
'Yeah makes sense you are probably really tired aren't you?'
'Yes, very.'
'Mkay, uhh Charlie?'
I sigh and rub the bridge of my nose
'Yes Alex'
I yawn
'Get home safe, yeah?
'Don't worry I'll make it home safe and sound don't you worry.'
'Okay good night Charlie.'
'Good night Alex'
I smile to myself and look at the time 3:27am. We must have been on call for longer then I had thought. I lie down and listen to the more calmer wind now. No sooner do i wake up to the sun shining and the calm thrashing of the sea. I gab my phone and peer at the time. No it.. it can't be.
