Balaji Baji Rao proudly picked up his eleven days old baby boy from the cradle. He bowed down infront of the lord and walked upto the small stage, which stood erected in middle of the hall.
" Don't keep us waiting more bhau. Announce the name of your son. We are excited to know" Sadashiv Rao, cousin of Nanasaheb urged him. Raghunath who sat next to Sadashiv just passed a small smile.
"This little boy brought so much happiness into my life, showed me the sense of completeness. He will grow up as the strength of Peshwas. Invoking the blessings of Almighty on him and on our family forever, my son is named after the almighty himself " Nanasaheb said addressing the people of the family and court who sat in the hall.
He smiled lifting up the infant as if showing him to everyone.
" Narayan rao Bhat " Nanasaheb announced his son's name. Maids and servants showered flowers on them giving the festival touch to the occasion. Joyfull cheers and happiness prevailed there.
" Narayan rao Bhat " The courtiers repeated the name among themselves.
Sadashiv Rao stepped forward and recieved Narayan from Nanasaheb.
" Narayan rao, vah! Such a great name for our little boy " he said and pecked the baby's cheek and turned to Raghunath who sat quietly.
" Isn't it Raghoba?" he asked.
Raghunath again plastered a smile and caressed Narayan's head.
The celebrations met it's end. The guests started leaving the house of Shanivar wada after having the lavish feast arranged by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao. Various charity works which were organised around the city were also met a peaceful end. Everybody blessed the new born and his mother before leaving.
Parvati bai stayed with Gopikabai chatting about various random things happened in Satara. For no reason she adored Narayana to great extent, she refused even to hand him back to his own mother.
" Thaayi, keep Vishwas and Madhoo for yourself and give this Narayan to me. I will keep him, he is just too much adorable. I can't seperate myself from him" Parvati bai said cuddling the new born.
" No way! I can't stay away from my three sons " Gopika countered back and snatched Narayan making Parvati amused.
Listening to Sadashiv rao's call, Parvatibai took leave from Gopika bai. After her exit, Gopikabai looked up at her mother in law who sat with a blank face.
Gopikabai placed her son back in cradle, cooing at bit and walked up to Kashibai.
" Sasubai?" She gently pressed her shoulder bringing her back to present.
Kashibai just smiled at her eldest daughter in law.
" What's troubling you?" Gopika asked getting more concerned.
