Chapter 7: Here Is A Plea
The next day, Roland will be off oxygen for the day before being released from the hospital in the afternoon. "How does it feel being off oxygen?" Curt asked. Ever since he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, he's never off oxygen. "It feels nice to just breathe in the fresh air no matter how terrible your lungs are," Roland said. "Kind of wished I could do that without gasping for air all the time," Curt said. "Oh Curt," Roland said, ruffling Curt's hair before noticing some of his hair falling out. "You're still taking those steroids, right?" Roland asked. "Yeah, and for some reason I'm still losing weight, stupid pulmonary fibrosis," Curt said. "I used to like braiding your hair, but I had to cut it because your hair started falling off," Roland said. "I know," Curt said. Later, the other Wild Boys entered the room.
"G'day, how's it going?" Tim asked. "Getting a bit better, but I still need oxygen at night," Roland said. "Glad you're starting to get better, Roland," George said. "Despite my gastroparesis," Roland said. The Wild Boys were talking to each other before Dr Hayley announced that Roland will be released. Kate brought Roland's clothes with her so that he could change out of his hospital gown. Curt then helped Roland walk to the bathroom and helped him change. After that, Roland is back to his normal self, despite the tubes that are now part of his life. "What do you think?" Roland asked. "You're still the same Roland we know," Jim said. "Thank you so much, Dr Hayley," Roland said. "No problem, now you can go home but be careful with the tubes," Dr Hayley said.
Roland nodded as the Wild Boys went out of the hospital. "I can't imagine a time when we weren't in the hospital," Roland said. "Yeah, sorry you have to endure all that," Simon said. "It's fine, at least I got the experience some of you have," Roland said. "Oh yeah, we have another mission," Kim said. "We're going to get badged," Mel said. "The rookies are getting badged?" Roland asked. "Yup," Derek said. "Congratulations to you guys, now we'll be looking forward to that," Curt said.
The Wild Boys will always shine...
