Hidden Secret

Chapter One

(Nova)

Nova walks into school, a hair tie in her mouth and her hands wrapped around her long brown hair in a ponytail. She keeps her hair in one hand, using the other to grab the hair tie, and she uses it to tie her hair up.

She lets her hands fall to her side, before starting towards a hallway filled to the brim with the hormones and the sweatiness of teenagers that had ran the entire way to school.

Nova sighs as she sidesteps multiple people on her way to her locker, and finally gets there after several seconds.

She twists the knob on her locker in a pattern to open it, opening it after a moment, but gets stopped by it randomly getting slammed in her face by someone.

She glances to her right, where the hand that closed her locker came from, and she spots a taller boy with overexaggerated swooshy hair leaning against someone else's locker next to hers.

Swooshy raised his eyebrows and smirked at her, "Hey hottie." He said in a deep voice, sounding very forced. His real voice definitely didn't sound like that.

Nova looked him up and down, sighing, "Hello. Did you need something?" She asked. Swooshy shook his head, his hair swishing during the motion, "Nah, just wanted to see if the rumors were true."

It was Nova's turn to raise her eyebrows this time, "Rumors? What's been going around about me now?"

Swooshy shrugged in an offhand motion, "Just that you're the hottest girl in the school."

"Is that so?" Nova said, already knowing the answer.

Swooshy nodded.

"Anything else circulating around this cesspool of hormones about me?" She asked.

Swooshy nodded again, "Yeah, it's goin' around that you and Sebastian have a thing for each other."

Nova's fist clenched, but she kept her cool, "Oh? Interesting." She said in a strained voice."

"Well, while I'm here, are the rumors true then? About you and Sebastian?" He asked.

She gave him a forced tight-lipped smile, "That's for me to know, and for you to possibly find out. Now shoo." She waved her hand at him, gesturing for him to fuck off.

Swooshy walked off after a moment, disappearing into the crowd of teenagers.

Nova turned back to her locker, opening it again, while thinking back to what Swooshy had said about her and Sebastian.

Sebastian had been her best friend since the third grade, and they had basically grown up attached at the hip. They were still close now, despite life's many challenges. That's probably part of the reason why the rumor about him and her started. Another reason was because Sebastian is part of the football team, Nova is a cheerleader, and people are all for that football player/cheerleader relationship trope.

But the thing that nobody knows except for the two of them is one fact.

They both are attracted to the same gender.

Nova's lesbian, and Sebastian's gay.

But nobody can know, because it would ruin their reputation as the popular kids, and they'd be lumped in with the group of 'freaks'.

But the ironic thing is, they both have a crush on one of the freaks.

And that would ruin their reputation even more.

Nova sighs, breaking out of her thoughts, and closing her locker, being done with it.

She looks at her watch, checking how much time she had before the bell rang; she had thirty minutes, just enough time to meet up with Sebastian.
