It was a stormy and rainy night in Long Island, when a mother ran with her four year old son through the forests leading to the large strawberry farm in the distance. Behind her, she could hear the small group of monsters gaining on them, as she struggled with maintaining her speed. The child was holding on to his mothers shoulder as he cried, while in her other hand she clenched the handle of the small and wicked sharp bronze dagger which was given to her by the sire of her son tighter. She knew that it was unlikely that she would survive the night, but if only she could reach the border of the camp, then her son would at least make it through the night safely.

As she felt the dog-like monster slamming into her beck, she held on to her son as tightly as she could, knowing that his life was on the line. In the middle of her fall, she hit an unexpected barrier and blew out a sigh of relief, as she now knew that the safety of her son was guaranteed. As gently as she could she pushed her son seamlessly through the barrier, before turning around to face the hellish dogs. While she knew that she couldn't possibly kill them all, she would try her hardest to take out as many of the creatures as she could as a way to pay back the creatures for taking her away from her little boy.

It was at that very same border, where Chrion the following morning found a soaked and crying toddler sitting a bit away from the deceased body of his mother. Figuring out what had happened, he was quick to scoop up the child in his arms in order to bring him to the big house. It was then, right before leaving, that he saw the dagger clenched in his mother's hand. Knowing that it would be the only connection to his mortal life, he picked it up so that he could keep it safely for when the time came for the child to use the dagger for himself.

When Chiron arrived at the big house, he immediately brought the child to the infirmary knowing that the child had likely been sitting still and soaked all night, and would be in need of rest before he could even consider introducing him to the camp. What immediately surprised him however, was his striking black hair and blue eyes, something he would later realise were both traits belonging to his mother, leaving him with no physical clue as to who the father of the boy was.

As the little boy who Chiron would come to know as Chris started to integrate into the camp, it quickly became obvious that he would be adored by all. As the youngest child to date to arrive at camp, all the other campers and the nature spirits quickly adopted him as if he was a younger brother. It didn't matter that he still went unclaimed, all the cabins and the spirits took to teaching the little boy whatever they could to ensure his happiness and well-being. The nymphs and satyrs taught the boy about nature and all the blessings it brings to the person willing to traverse it, the Ares cabin started to teach him how to fight, the Apollo cabin taught him not only to use a bow but also how to use a variety of instruments, the Athena cabin took to helping with his education and to foster his interest in the intellectual pursuits, the Hephaestus cabin taught him to work with his hands and to always think outside of the box, the Hermes cabin who he shared a cabin with took to include him in their pranks and to teach him their ways of mischief.

And then there was the Aphrodite cabin. The longer the young boy spent with the children of Aphrodite, the more obvious it became that the boy was struggling with an internal conflict of some sort. Having almost adopted Chris and practically seeing him as his own, Chiron had always imparted on the young boy that he could always talk to him. He knew that forcing the young boy to talk would do nothing to help, so he resigned himself to wait patiently for Chris to talk to him on his own. As the years went by, it became more and more painful for Chiron to watch as his adopted son continued to struggle, but that was brought to an end after the boy Luke Castellan, and the girl Annabeth Chase arrived at camp.

Here we are people. I mentioned this on my feed, but yes. I absolutely had to start on this fic, and I had to start it now. This is a deeply personal story due to the protagonist being a trans girl like myself, and with the release of the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV show, it was the perfect time to make it a reality. I hope the story can work as a source of representation for girls and young women like me, after discovering the joy and adventure that is the Percy Jackson series through the new Disney show.
