"She is ugly".

■■■■○○○■■■■

"Do you have no shame?! You dare to come here! In front of me! Your fu*king husband! With the daughter of your lover!?"

"My child is also your child."

"Well..it seems like I gave you a bit too much freedom. You are not scared of me anymore, or are you?"

"I am. But I know you love me and would love this child who I gave birth to."

"So what do you want me to do? Kiss the baby with joy? Or should I hug that nasty little infant and make her my heir? Say!"

"None of it. I just want you to name this child just like you did for Jiyoung."

"...*tsk*Kkum"

"Kkum?"

"Yes, Kkum."

"May I ask why?"

"Don't you like it, my dear Queen?"

"I- it's just that the name is very..."

"Unique! Right? I know, this name fits her very well!"

"My King! Please do reconsider! This name is not befitting for a Princess."

"Tsk! 'PRinCesS'. Her name is Kkum and that is decided. And come on, 'dream' is not a bad name! More over you shouldn't expect much from me because that is not my daughter to begin with. A lowly born's child. Pity. A pity. But don't be saddened, I'll not kill her. Since she is the last thing that your lover left for you. He would have lived a long live if he didn't commit treason. Like did he think he would get away after sleeping with My Queen? Tsk! Bastard."

"I-*gritting teeth* Thank you My King. I'll be taking my leave."

A few years passed by and Kkum is now 5 years old. She was loved and cherished by her mother. Though the King didn't. He resented her very being and had ordered her to be confined in the Obsidian palace away from his sight. Despite being young she wasn't naive. She was a walking prodigy.

She knew about her corrupted birth that led to her father's death. She also knew the meaning behind her name. She didn't seem to hate it though. It was as if she just felt less emotions than the others.

Whenever she went outside the palace, the maids and the royal members harrassed her. They claimed how she brought 'honour' to the imperial family. But all she did in response was stare at them, clench her fists, exhale out and smile while some other times bow down.

Their were people who asked the Queen, "How will she ever compete with Jiyoung?". Without waiting for a response they would chime in and say, "It won't be possible though. Jiyoung is of noble birth, the King's one and only daughter. How could that pesky little wench ever beat her? Jiyoung is better in every way possible."

The Queen who had tainted her character after cheating on her husband had no to little power. She had to hear and tolerate the cruel words they spewed about her child and her lover. Since she was still loved and wanted by the King, no one insulted her. All the blame was taken by the little girl who couldn't even dare to stand up for herself.

Kkum. She had mastered the royal etiquette and so much more even before she turned 5. She made the Queen proud in every aspect except that most important thing required in that era; the beauty.

Kkum was pretty. Her looks were unique. One of a kind. She owed her beauty to her father who was known as the most handsome man in the continent. But despite that she was called ugly as it was a constant reminder of the Queen's betrayal and the King's sorrow.
