Chapter 41

Sarada's POV

I felt excited after Kawaki told me that we would go out on a date after he finished their failed project. He estimated to finish it within a week and that also means that we won't be able to see each other for that long too. But I have to endure it until then. Going out once a week is fine with me. Well, I will be very delighted if we can spend time together before the final exams come.

"I saw that," Chocho teases me. "Saw what?" I ask confused about her statement. "I saw you smiling," she pokes me. "I don't know I just feel a bit excited," I respond to her teasing.

She knew we would be meeting today at the cafeteria. He texted me yesterday and said he was almost done with their project. I know that the project is shared with Hana, the girl who likes him very much. I won't deny it but I feel irritated every time I see her with the jerk. Yes, they're just lab partners I should not feel jealous when she's around him, and glad that he assured me that she is nothing but a class partner and he is not interested in someone else but only me.

Considering his nature I know he was not joking or lying when he said that. Well, the problem is not him but the girl. What if he realizes that spending time together matters most in relationships? That thought alone scares me. Yes, we do text each other and sometimes call each other at night after everything's done but I know those weren't enough.

But what can we do? We have dreams to chase after all. All we can do is trust each other and trust the process.

"What happened? Are you okay?" Chocho notices me thinking. "Oh, yes. I'm sorry I spaced out," I give her an awkward laugh. "I noticed you were silent for a while. Is being Kawaki's girlfriend stressful to you?" she jokes and I pout at her and make her laugh more.

"I won't lie but it's truly stressful especially if I have to deal with Hana as well, you know she-" she cuts me off. "Yes, that snake. She likes your boyfriend very much. She's obsessed with him to be exact," she snorts and I sigh at her statement.

"But don't worry, Kawaki seems not interested in her," she gently pats my back. "Do you think so?" she nods at me. "Trust your intuition," she winks at me.

"You don't have class today?" I ask her. "Nope," she replies quickly. "Shall we go see Kawaki?" she adds. "Hmm," I feel reluctant. He must not finished with his work yet and I don't want to be a bother.

"What's wrong?" she asks confused. "He must be busy. I think I'll just wait for his text," I tell her but she reacts differently from what I expected. "When was the last text anyway? Yesterday?" she shakes her head.

"What do you want me to do? Annoy him with countless texts? Do I look desperate with his attention?" I say helplessly. "You look miserable now so I think you do," I don't know if she's joking or being ridiculous. So, I annoyingly poke her chubby cheeks and she laughs.

"Perhaps you should text him like you are excited to meet him later so he must remember that someone is waiting for him," she's giving me advice now. The love expert by the way.

"He never failed to update me with what was going on with his life and make an effort to see me and I appreciate it so much. Maybe you're right Chocho. Seeing my name on his screen might put a smile on his lips," I enthusiastically tell her and she is okay with it.

I look for my phone inside my bag and start typing my message for him. I don't want it to sound odd I just want him to know that I'm so keen on meeting up with him later and I hope he did not truly forget about it.

"See you later..."

I came up with a simple message and clear enough for him to remember that I was on it. I'm expecting him to respond to me since he always gets back to me even if it is late. Maybe he is still busy with his business. I'll just wait for more minutes.
