Lila Halstead was hanging out with her best friends - Alexa Mendoza, and Katie Cooper. Alexa was acting different than she usually did, and Lila noticed it.

"Lex, what's going on? You're not yourself today," Lila questions.

Alexa sighs before sitting down on a bench in the park, Lila and Katie sitting down next to her. "I'm sick. I haven't been feeing well so my parents brought me to the doctor and I have cancer.. Leukemia."

Lila, having battled leukemia previously and currently being in remission, holds Alexa's hand. "Lex.. It's going to be okay. Its going to be hard, I know. But we'll get you through this, just like you guys got me through it. We're in this together."

"Exactly, we've got this Alexa. You've always got us by your side," Katie adds.

"When do you start chemo?" Lila asks, familiar with the drill.

"Tomorrow morning."

"Well then we're going to be there with you. The treatments are tough, but you'll get through it. You're strong. And if I could, you can too," Lila speaks.

-------------------------

The next morning, the three girls, along with Lori, Dave, and Lucas Mendoza, are in the treatment room, accompanied by Dr Breitweisser - Alexa's doctor, who also happens to be Lila's doctor.

Throughout the treatment, Dr Breitweisser leaves. All of Alexa's support system who is there make sure to do everything they can to make Alexa feel comfortable.

Lila feels a bit uneasy, being back in the treatment room, the same one in which she had her treatments in, but she tries to brush it off. As Alexa's treatment continued, Lila zoned out, falling into a flashback of her own journey with cancer.

-------------------------------

Lila, at the age of 13, paced around Dr Breitweisser's office. Her parents - Jay Halstead, and Hailey Upton, along with Katie and Alexa, and Lila's older brother Levi by her side. Lila continued to pace around as she was waiting for Dr Breitweisser to return with her results. The worry in the room was palpable.

As Dr Breitweisser entered the room, he told Lila to sit down, and she did.

"Lila, your results came back, and they indicate you have cancer.. Leukemia. It's important that we get you started on chemotherapy early," Dr Breitweisser's words echo in Lila's mind.

"Leukemia.. What.. I.." Lila struggles with what to say.

Jay and Hailey, along with Levi, Katie and Alexa, all go over to Lila and embrace her in a hug, ensuring she knows that she's not alone in this.

--------------------------

"Hey Lila, are you okay?" Alexa questions, noticing her lost in thought. This brings her out of the flashback.

"Yeah, sorry. Just got lost in thought."

Alexa notices that there's something more but decides not to mention it.

The treatment continues, and soon enough, her first treatment is finished. Alexa feels extremely fatigued and nauseous. Lila, understanding how much the chemo can affect a person, stays by Alexa's side, helping her up to her room and into bed when they arrive.

Alexa sits on her bed, staring at a blank spot on the wall to help ease the nausea. Katie and Lila remain by Alexa's side. Lila, understanding the solace found in staring at a blank wall, especially while it's quiet, remains silent, only exchanging a few words with Katie.

Just then, Lila's phone goes off, and she sees that it's her dad calling. She excuses herself for a moment and steps out of the room to answer the call, not wanting to disrupt the silence they were trying to maintain for Alexa.

"Hey dad," Lila speaks, as she answers the call.

"Hey Lila, where are you?"

"I'm next door at Alexa's. She had her first treatment today, I want to be there for her."

"Okay, if you need anything at all, let me know."

"Will do, dad."

Hailey and Jay had been rallying around Lila since the day she got her diagnosis. Even though she's in remission. Sometimes it annoyed Lila, but she knew it just meant that they cared, and that was their way of showing it.

Lila returned to Alexa's bedroom, where she found Alexa asleep, with Katie still sitting next to her.

"She been sleeping long?" Lila asks Katie, whispering.

"Fell asleep a few minutes after you left," Katie replies, also whispering.

"Well, that's good. Sleep really helps, especially after the first few treatments."
