Your day has been terrible so far. It was..a lot. First, you'd woken up at an ungodly hour and couldn't fall back asleep. You were very tired. Then, when you started your day you were attacked by a group of Gengar and Haunter (just your luck) and got badly damaged.
You, of course, wanted to heal yourself so you started to look for any berry or just something that could help. You found nothing. What made the search even worse was that you got mud stains all over your rag covering. Great. Just great. That was going to be annoying to try and get out, seeing as how you being a shiny mimikyu have an off-white cloth.
After you gave up you decided to walk around the closest town. You didn't really have much of a reason. The small chatter and busyness has always had a way of calming you. It was strange, but it worked so you still went.
You still felt absolutely awful. Slightly less awful though. You took this as a win. A win that was soon shattered when you encountered another mimikyu. A mimikyu you'd always had the "luxury" of knowing. Oh, how the thought that your day couldn't get any worse was shattered in seconds.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the poor ol' shiny just moping around town?" The mimikyu taunted.
This mimikyu, Sarah, has always been a huge jerk to you. It was her only goal in life. Okay, well, that's a lie, but it feels that way to you based on the amount of joy your misery brings her. You know she's just jealous you're a shiny pokemon. It still hurts.
"Oh, would you look at that. Your rag is covered in stains. Such a shame, isn't it? Is that what's wrong? Your poor rags aren't glistening and gleaming, hm? Such a terrible thing! However will you cope?" Sarah continued after she gave you an up and down glare.
You wished you could get out of this situation. You hoped that someone would come and help drag you out of this awful encounter. Life isn't that kind to you. The people of this small town can't understand pokemon language, and the pokemon of this town prefer to be bystanders than get involved. You were on your own.
"Sarah, c'mon now. Can't you leave me be for just one day? A singular day is all I ask," you pleaded. You knew it wouldn't work, but it was worth a try, right?
"Where would the fun in that be, Y/N?" Sarah asked in a condescending tone.
You didn't have the energy to deal with this. You were still injured from your earlier run in with the ghost type pokemon and scavenging for berries had taken the rest of your desire to do anything.
You wondered if you could just walk away. You've tried that many times before, but it never worked. Well, y'know what they say: "if you fail, try again."
You turn and start heading out of town. Sarah called after you, telling you to come back whilst shouting names at you. She must've not wanted too much of a fight today either though, as she just turned and walked the opposite way. What a relief. You can't believe this actually worked.
You got to what you call home. It was simply a very tall and thick tree with a hole at its base. The hole was basically just the tree hollowed out. Thin layers of bark were its walls and it was hollowed out to the height of about 10 mimikyus (~6'6" or just less than 2 m). Point is, your home is quite spacious for you.
You collapsed into what you call your bed and sobbed. You couldn't stop. What kind of day was this? Why must you have gone through it?
It hurt. Mentally but also physically, as the way your body shook with your sobs agitated the wounds you sustained throughout the course of the day. You should really keep stock of healing berries.
"Y/N?" A soft voice called from just outside of the tree.
You knew who it was. You'd recognize that voice from anywhere. It was Riley. Riley was a scream tail, and your partner. Riley, who deserved the world and more.
You wanted to pretend that everything was fine. You didn't want to burden them with what you think is just you being sensitive because a couple of inconveniences happened throughout the day. Yet, when you tried to stop or at the very least quieten your cries, you couldn't.
"Y/N, are you crying?" Riley asked, voice laced with concern.
You tried to call back an "I'm fine!" but it only came out as a strangled sob. Curse your body and its inability to be normal.
"I'm coming in," Riley claimed.
Right after a figure stood in the entrance. You knew who it was. You just wanted to hide away and not be seen. Despite this, you still looked up towards the figure. Teary eyes met golden eyes.
"Oh, love," Riley whispered, a hinge of pain in their tone. "What's wrong?"
Oh, you hated it. You hated how you'd have to have bothered them with something so trivial. Why must you be this way?
"Nothing, it's stupid, really. Don't worry about it." You reply. Your voice shakes with each word you somehow managed to stutter out. Your voice cracked at the end of the phrase.
"Stop that. It's not stupid. If you're upset then it's important. Now, what's wrong?" Riley supplied.
You cried harder. That..was something you needed to hear. If you were being completely honest with yourself, this bad day had brought back some old insecurities.
Riley, as always, was able to pull you back up to the surface. That was just them in their entirety.
"I've had an awful day," you started, "just dreadful."
Riley frowned, and opened up their arms. A silent invention. You take it in an instance, burying yourself in their embrace. The Jigglypuff ancestor's arms wrap around you, just barely all the way due to how short they are.
You melt into the warmth while Riley just whispers sweet nothing to calm you. Slowly, your tears dry and your hiccups stop. Your body aches from the injuries still.
"You wouldn't happen to have any healing berries, would you? I got hurt earlier and don't have any." You ask.
"You're hurt? I'm sorry I didn't notice. I do have berries with me, sweetheart." Riley replied.
After your injuries had healed you and Riley were cuddled up together on the ground, enjoying each other's warmth and presence. The first good moment of your entire day, which you're thankful for.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Riley asked.
You were snuggled up in their arms still as if they could make the universe disappear. Riley always had that effect on you. Them and their silly fur mohawk always brought brightness to your life. You gave a small nod which you know they felt.
"First, I didn't sleep very well. Then when I had gotten up after just lying here for hours I encountered a bunch of ghost type pokemon, which is how I got hurt. After that I knew I didn't have any berries or anything that could heal me so I went to look for some. I didn't find any. Instead my rag got all muddy! I don't know how I'm going to get the stains out!" You vented.
Riley hummed in encouragement to continue. You did.
"I decided to go to town after that since a small walk around there usually helps calm me down. After a while I felt slightly better, but that didn't last long. I had a run in with Sarah. Her words don't normally bother me as much as they did today. They shouldn't have bothered me as much as they did. Yet, the already bad day only made her quips worse to my head." You say and then sigh. "Then I headed back here, and well...you saw how I was."
"I'm sorry for today. Sarah is just taking out her emotions on you, try not to pay her any mind. I know it's hard. And don't worry about your rag. I'll help you clean it." Riley said.
After that you and Riley just continued snuggling. Your bad day wasn't so bad after that. You thought about how thankful you were to have Riley in your life as you drifted off into a peaceful sleep in the arms of your love.
