"Open your eyes! I've got us glass jars for our little lesson," Cordelia smiled at you, her hands once ghosting over your face were now gesturing with jazz hands to one of the greenhouse's tables. You could tell she was incredibly excited — elated, even — to teach you something that she cared deeply about.
Why were the jazz hands kind of cute?
The headmistress spoke again after she gave you one of the jars, "You can look around and place any herbs you would like into your jar. It should be about two to three inches high, if you want to put in a lot. Just go with your gut feeling."
You nodded, turning on your heels. As you begin to look around, you heard the lyrics of Fleetwood Mac bounce off the walls of the greenhouse.
"You listen to Fleetwood Mac, Mrs. Foxx?"
She chuckled, "Of course I do. I always support my girls, even if they're not here at the academy."
Your expression was puzzled to say the least. What does she mean by that?, you thought to yourself. Ain't no way you were going to try and decrypt the meaning behind her words — she obviously chose them carefully.
"Stevie Nicks is a witch, sweetheart," Cordelia confessed as she saw the visible confusion on your face.
A blank stare at your instructor told her that you were shocked, that you had no idea about Stevie Nicks' practices. You nodded slowly, trying to process the information and decided to concentrate on the herbs and roots you wanted to use for the spell jar.
"What's this one, Mrs. Foxx?" You pointed to one of the herbs or roots — you didn't know. It looked really pretty, and you were drawn to it; the energy was powerful so you got a feeling it would be good for your spell.
Cordelia eyed you, an eyebrow raised, and spoke with giggles interrupting her words every so often, "That's hibiscus, darling. It is used for divination — which makes sense for you. I'm a little surprised you don't know it."
"Is it just used for divination?" You questioned.
The blonde woman placed a couple of strands of hair behind her ear before addressing your concern, "Hibiscus? It's also used in witchcraft to attract love and lust."
You blushed heavily, turning away quickly from your teacher. You repeated over in your head that you hoped she hadn't seen the way your cheeks reddened.
"Don't be embarrassed, Y/N/N, it's common for witches to use love spells. Everyone has done it once or twice!" Cordelia tried to reassure you, a warm hand finding your shoulder.
It didn't help that Kind of Woman was playing off the radio in the corner of the greenhouse. This particular Fleetwood Mac piece being one of your favorite songs meant that you knew the summary of what the song was supposed to be discussing, and you felt it was all too fitting for the predicament of your crush on your married teacher.
