It is Mother's Day, New Zealand could't think of any idea for her mother. She is looking for her brothers for an idea however all of them are busy. America is at college so he is far away, Canada is probably outside the garden raking some leaves, and Australia is at work in the zoo.
New Zealand needs help with preparing for Mother's Day because she wants to thank her mom for spending time with her, even though she and Britain are busy at work.
After a few minutes of New Zealand thinking of what to do, she heard someone close a door behind her. Canada appeared at the door and saw New Zealand with a bright smile which he knew meant something. He smiled back and waved at her, he walked to the kitchen to drink water. Then New Zealand followed him and she asked.
''Hey Nada!''
Canada turned around to New Zealand.
''Yes, Kiwi? Do you want water?''
''Oh, no thank you..''
New Zealand paused her sentence for a second.
''..but today it's Mother's Day, what do you think should we do for Mom?''
Canada raised his eyebrows and stood up. He glanced over the storage, and an idea came up to him.
''What about... we bake some cupcakes since she always bakes us cupcakes on holidays?'' He said with a smile.
New Zealand is excited about this idea, it is her first time doing something in the kitchen. Canada got some aprons, ingredients, and materials for baking. He knows how to bake cupcakes because when he was younger France taught him and America how to cook and bake.
They put on their aprons and started to crack eggs and pour flour and milk into a bowl. New Zealand opened a jar of sugar and poured lots of sugar while Canada was looking for teaspoons to measure with. After that he took a whisk and started to stir while adding butter and sugar, New Zealand looked with excitement and guilt at the same time after all.. she poured too much sugar.
''Would you like to stir the mix too?'' Canada asked.
''Yes please.'' New Zealand took the whisk and mixed aggressively...
Canada is surprised by how New Zealand is hyped up while mixing, he reminded her to slow down. After mixing they poured the mixture into the cupcake containers and put them inside the oven. A few minutes passed... the timer dinged; Canada wore the mittens to take the tray out. He took the sprinkles and the piping bags (icing coupler) with different flavours.
The golden sunset started to shine on the windows of the kitchen, Canada realized that their parents and Autralia are coming home so they had to rush the icing and sprinkles. After that they cleaned themselves and the kitchen. While Canada is washing the dishes New Zealand threw the eggshells, closed the sprinkle and sugar jar. Finished.. all they needed was Australia to know their plan for the surprise.
Australia got home from work before their parents could, suddenly Canada grabbed him and Australia panicked due to the silence of the house.
''AHHH FU-''
''SHH- Aussie, quick come with me...''
''Dang it Nada! You scared the hell outta me.'' Australia hissed
''Oh sorry Aussie, it's just something important for Mom'' Canada said with an apology tone.
''No worries.. where's Kiwi?'' He asked with concern.
''She is fixing the living room for Mother's Day'' He said while pulling Australia's arm to the living room.
New Zealand saw her brothers talking to each other from the living room's entrance. She ran up to them and hugged them tight. The boys smiled as she hugged them therefore she said something out of nowhere.
''I wish Ame is here.. all of you are getting older and busier, would you two leave me too one day?'' She said with a worried tone. Aussie and Canada were suprised to hear their Kiwi feeling left behind.
''Well, we can't promise who is going to stay or leave.. but we promise to protect you 'cause you're our little girl.'' Canada said in a calm tone.
''It will be okay Kiwi, one day you'll be with us at school'' Australia smiled.
Interrupting their sad conversation they heard the door open and footsteps come closer. They prepared themselves as they prepare for their surprise. Australia peeked quick and saw their mom walking to the kitchen.
''Kids..? I'm home. Your dad is still at work for a special meeting..'' France spoke.
No one answered. As the silence got suspicious France walked to the living room and opened the switch. She felt a little nervous walking in. Not until Australia accidentally creeked the floor. France was about to speak and then they surprised her.
''HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!'' They all said in unison.
France wasn't shocked or anything 'cause she heard something, but she really appreciated this. Then Canada turned around to France to show her the cupcakes he and New Zealand made. She looked with amaze and responded.
''Mon dieu!! Merci beaucoup mes enfants.'' (My God!! Thank You so much children.)
France is so delighted it made her spoke her language, the only one who could understand was Canada after all he has a french cousin. (I noticed that Québec is kinda underrated in the CH fandom-)
''On t'aime maman!!'' (We love you, Mom!!) Canada spoke in French.
Australia and New Zealand gave Canada a look of confusion, as if they never heard him spoke French. After that they went to the kitchen to eat dinner, France brought soup she made at work earlier. (French onion soup)
As they finish their dinner, New Zealand took a cupcake and gave it to her mother with excitement and said.
''Here mom! Me and Canada baked this for you. Thank you for always being there for us.'' New Zealand told her mom while reaching the cupcake; France took a bite of the dessert and smiled, as she felt the sweetness of the icing. She placed the cupcake down and hugged New Zealand, and also gestured Canada and Australia to join them.
''Thank you so much children... Je vous aime tous'' (I love you all.)
