Alone bike roared through the town, it's rider looking for the local hotel. He pulled around the corner and found what he was looking for, so Reno stopped, got off the bike and walked in.
"Room for one?" He said to the desk clerk. The desk clerk checked the available rooms, gave him the prices for the time he desired, and once Reno paid, he was handed the room key.
"Hey wait, I need a name for the room." The clerk asked him,
"Black, Vince Black." Reno replied, and walked to the room. When he got there, he sat on the bed, and just relaxed for a moment, before going through the files he was given, for the latest bounty he was to track down. He was hunting a man that had escaped his bail and court days, so it was now his job to bring the man to justice. He called in with his colleagues and told them he had made it safely.
"Sixkiller enterprises?" Came the voice on the other end of the call.
"Bobby, it's me." He replied. "I've gotten to the place."
"Okay, now we just gotta find this guy." Bobby said. "He's been seen in the bar around the corner from you." Bobby told him. "If he's there, try to maybe get him on your side..." They made a plan, and Reno said that he would put it to motion in the morning. He went to bed, and got the sleep he needed from travelling.
She had just gotten into town and hoped that this time she would be safe, as she checked into the same hotel Reno was at. She only told a few people where she would be going, to get away from her abusive now ex lover. When they started, the relationship was going okay. However, after she had learned about his past, and seeing him change gradually, she was having second thoughts. When she tried to leave, he threatened her, and said that he would hurt her. So she waited until he went out to the bar, to pack her bags and put them in the trunk of her car. He came back heavily intoxicated later that night, and had his dinner before going to bed. She waited till he was deep asleep, before she made her move. She crept out, and pushed the car out of the driveway and down the road a while before she started the engine. She then went to the local shelter for a few days to gather her resources. When he found her gone the next morning, he asked around and made his way to the town she said she was going to. He made sure to be at least two steps ahead of her. When he found her again, he would make sure not to let her leave him again. To say his crimes were terrifying, would be the understatement of the century. Hence the reason he had a massive bounty out for his capture. He was currently sitting in the bar of the local town that he was certain she would be in soon enough. He would start looking for her in the morning, after he sobered up. But what he didn't know, is that the bounty hunters were already in town as well.
The next morning, Reno woke up, and met Bobby. They met in the hotel café, and sat and talked about the bounty.
"His name is Mark. And he's as bad as they come." Bobby said, handing him some new information. "He was also abusing his latest partner. She's currently on the run from him." He showed the photo of the woman, and Reno could hardly believe his eyes. It was his old high school sweetheart. He never thought he was ever going to see Annabeth again. But if she was the one he was hurting, Reno made it his mission to lock this guy up, and help her out.
"Alright, I'm going in to town and see what I can find out." He told Bobby, and went out to his bike. He went to the local coffee shop first, as he didn't get anything from the hotel café. He walked in, and ordered a coffee, and something to eat with it. Soon, his order was ready and he sat down at a table to go over the case notes. As he was doing this, he heard the bell over the door jingle, and a woman walked in.
"Hot chocolate, with sugar, milk, and a ham and cheese croissant." She said, giving her order to the assistant.
"Just a name for that?" The assistant asked her.
"Raines. Rayla Raines." She replied. Reno couldn't help but overhear. Was she using his last name? It was definitely her voice, but as he looked up, he noticed she still had her back to him. She soon collected her order and was about to head out of the café, when he caught up to her.
"Annabeth!" He said, reaching for her hand. "Wait, I need to talk to you."
"Sir, I believe you have the wrong person..." She started to say before she turned around to face him. As soon as she saw who it was, her eyes went wide with surprise. "You... meet me at the local library in a half hour, we'll talk there." She whispered to him. "Now if you please, you have the wrong person." And he let her leave, only to meet with her soon enough. For now, he would head back to the hotel to fill Bobby in.
"So it really is her, huh?" Cheyenne asked him. Reno nodded. "Wow, I heard she was living back in Portland, but I never thought we'd see her here."
"And if she really was with Mark?" Bobby said. "She's in big trouble. He's relentless, when it comes to people leaving him like that." Before long, it was time for Reno to go meet up with her. He told Bobby and Cheyenne he'd talk her into coming back with him, and left to go to the library.
