I took Samuel out in the day, so he could get some sunlight. He seemed to be very happy to get out. Isaac accompanied us wherever we went. Samuel told me tales from when Ray was a kid.

"You see that area there? That's where he would hide." He reminisced and laughed.
"And there! That is where I taught him how to ride a bicycle." He pointed out. It was so nice to see that he was happy.

In the garden is where I told him to do his rehab exercises. It was so lovely and fresh here that it was truly uplifting my mood, and I could see that Samuel was in a better mood as well.
"You have a beautiful garden." I said.

"Every single plant here was chosen by my wife. She decided which plant should be put where. When they die, the gardener just replants another one, so everything here looks the same as it did when she was alive." Samuel said.

It made me realise that it must be difficult for both of these men to look around and not miss her. Maybe that's one more reason why Ray wasn't letting Samuel come here.

"You miss her a lot, don't you?" I asked.
"Every minute of every day. She was my best friend. I tell you." He said. I stayed silent because I didn't want to ask more about her and make him sad.

"How has Ray been treating you?" Samuel asked changing the subject.
"He has been alright." I said.
"He's a difficult boy, but very soft at heart once you get to know him." He said. I gave him a smile in acknowledgment.

"I'm sure he is." I said.
We moved around the garden for a while until it was time to get back. We didn't stay there for more than an hour. Upon getting back, I went to the kitchen to check on Samuel's lunch. To my surprise, Ray was there.

"Hey." I said.
"Hello, Miss Williams." He greeted me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"This is my house." He said.
"Well, yes, but I've never seen you here." I said.
"I just wanted to give my preferences for lunch." He said. I assumed he didn't have to go to work today, and wanted to maybe look around the house and get more involved. I nodded, and proceeded to check the ingredients for Samuel's lunch.
