"Mom, don't go... Mom, don't leave me, please!" The little girl shouted desperately, calling out for her mother's help. However, her pleas fell on deaf ears as her mother turned a blind eye and walked away. Maria woke up from the terrifying dream, tears of regret streaming down her face as she remembered having a child and losing her due to her own selfish interests.
"Hello, Mom," Brenard, Maria's stepson, entered her room to wake her up, only to find her lost in thought. "Mom," he called out again. "Ah, son," she gasped, coming back to her senses.
"You're late today; breakfast is ready," Brenard said, smiling, and she nodded in response, offering a smile back.

Later, as they were eating, Brenard shared some news. "We'll be having a new artist coming to the gallery today; her name is Amelia." Maria, intrigued, confirmed, "Amelia?" "Yes, she's Keith's wife, and her paintings are amazing," Brenard added, sparking Maria's curiosity about Amelia.
"Mom, your daughter also paints, right?" Brenard's unexpected question caught Maria off guard, causing her to spit out the egg she had in her mouth. She didn't answer or turn to look at him, unsure of how to respond.
"I'll be going, Mom," Mikah rose, kissing Maria on her cheeks and grabbing her school bag. "Bye, brother," she waved at Brenard, who was looking at his mom.
Maria, once a mother, transitioned into the role of a stepmother to Brenard and Mikah. All her family knew was that she had a daughter named Amelia, but the whereabouts of her were unknown. The mystery surrounding Amelia's existence was a well-guarded secret within the family, with she revealing little about her past. The circumstances surrounding her marriage to a tycoon with two children led to her being labeled a gold digger by society, especially given the quick timing following his wife's death.
She kept her past shrouded in mystery, with no one in her new affluent life aware of her previous identity. After marrying into wealth, she underwent a significant transformation, adopting a new name and severing all connections to her former life. She made a conscious effort to distance herself from her past, avoiding any mention or association with it.
Despite leaving Amelia and her husband behind, she showed no signs of guilt or regret. Her actions suggested a deliberate avoidance of any connection to her past, allowing her to embrace her new life without dwelling on the family she had once forsaken. But lately she really wants to see her daughter. Is she regretting what she did?. The present search feels futile, as her daughter is now grown, and the uncertainty of her being alive or not adds to the complexity of the situation.
"I'm sorry, Mom. I was just curious," Brenard said, sensing his mother's discomfort. He cherished his mother deeply and only wanted to bring her joy.
"Brenard," she spoke quietly, "are you sure you looked for her thoroughly?" Brenard smiled reassuringly, "Yes, Mom, I did. But the informant told me there was no one there." That girl, I had a strange feeling when I saw her." Contemplating silently, a question unfolded in her thoughts, "Is she my Amelia?".

As he opened his eyes, he was greeted by the serene sight of his wife peacefully asleep in his arms. Contemplating whether to wake her, he hesitated, considering how tired she must be from the previous night's party. He delicately moved her to the comfort of the pillow, careful not to disturb the tranquility she found in sleep. Choosing not to interrupt her peaceful slumber, he left the bed and headed to the bathroom for his morning bath.Emerging from the bathroom, he discovered an empty bed and, clad in only a towel wrapped around his abdomen, ventured out of the room. His chest and legs were exposed, creating a casual yet enticing display. Spotting his wife in the kitchen, frying eggs and sipping coffee, he couldn't resist the playful opportunity.
"Sleepy head," he called out, his voice reaching her ears from behind. Startled, she turned to find him nearly naked, causing her heart to flutter. "Hey, go wear something," she insisted, her cheeks blushing pink with shyness. "Why?" he teased, smiling at her reaction. Unfazed, he continued, "Uhm, Amelia, look at me." He flashed a wide grin, and although she was visibly shy, he hugged her from behind.
"Good morning, love," he greeted, and she responded with a warm hug, murmuring, "Good morning, darling." With a playful laugh, he asked, "Are you this hungry?" She nodded slightly, nestled against his chest, savoring the comforting rhythm of his heartbeat, a moment she wished would last forever.
