Lorenzo felt a sudden jolt as Aki woke up with a startle. They had only been married a few months, but he could already tell something was wrong. He could fee his mate trembling in his arms as his breathing became uneven.

He tenderly brushed away some of Aki's silver-tipped hair from his face and asked, "What's wrong, my love?"

Aki was trembling, and his amber eyes filled with fear as he told him about the nightmare he just had. The exact thing that Aki never wanted to happen had occurred in his dream. Lorenzo wanted to comfort his mate, but he was at a loss for words. He wrapped his arms around Aki and squeezed him gently, burying his face in Aki's neck.

He whispered softly, "Shh, I'm here. Everything is going to be okay." His voice was deep and loving as he gently caressed Aki's sides and arms.

Aki felt Lorenzo's warmth and strength, and he melted into the embrace. He sniffled and snuggled closer to his mate's warmth as he felt his cat tail start to wag. While comforting him, Lorenzo tenderly stroked his back and kissed his forehead. Aki was soon calmed by Lorenzo's attentiveness, and his trembling slowly subsided, his breathing becoming normal again.

Lorenzo gently pulled away and tenderly looked into Aki's eyes with his dark eyes. He ran his hands through Aki's short silver hair and smiled, "I love you, Aki. You are safe with me."

Aki smiled back, and could feel his mate's love and care wash over him. He blushed and nuzzled into Lorenzo's chest, happy to be in his arms. He knew no matter what happened, he could always count on Lorenzo to be by his side.
