"Byyyyeeeee..."

You spoke, dragging out the words as you waved goodbye to the last of your friends, which was Venti, who was being dragged out of the tavern by Rosaria. Kaeya was smart enough to flake out on Venti everytime he sensed that the bard would get extra drunk sometimes.

You visited Angel's Share at least once a week, due to your pestering and fatherless friend group.

Don't get me wrong, you're fatherless too. I mean, he didn't die, but instead of calling you Y/N, sometimes he calls you Angelina. Or Jane. Or Laura.

Like who tf is Angelina, Dad??? 💀💀 And Laura????
[A/N : I'm so flipping sorry if your named any of these names. Feel free to change it up to your preference.]

Immediately, once the tavern door closed, you rotated your position on the stool. Now, your body faces the counter. There was a few more drunkards left but the tavern felt much peaceful than before.

Diluc noticed your exhausted expression when you sighed. I mean, he already noticed you were probably tired after tonight since you stayed a bit longer than usual, but only know is he properly thinking about it. Looking at you, as he momentarily pauses his task of wiping down the glasses, he curiously raises a brow at you.

"Hmm...Why was your tone so...dull. It's different than usual."

You felt yourself running out of patience as you put your head in your hands, elbows on the counter. You looked up at him for 5 seconds before shaking your head slightly and resting it against your hands again.

Diluc seemed a bit taken aback by your cold behavior, even if he tried to hide it, you knew.

"No need to act so cold. Won't it hurt to try to acknowledge my words at least and answer my questions? Seriously, you sounded so cheerful a few seconds ag-"

He grumbled slightly in his serious tone, crossing his arms as always.

But you immediately looked up at him and let your arms cross against the table, cutting him off, speaking in your quiet yet dangerous and mock polite.

"Oh, excuse me. Look who's talking. You do realize that you are way more colder than me, right? You barely make an effort to smile, but hey, you want other people to do it for you? Oh, I should've known. If you really want me to speak in that cheerful tone, then you better get ready to turn that frown upside down."

You gave him an obvious fake smile, making sure it was specially "sweet" juussstt for him.

Little did you know, Diluc was only saying that as his indirect way of expressing his concern and care for you. He'd genuinely grew a liking for you.

So...did you really have to say it so harsh? He was scared to admit it, but a small part of him broke the moment he processed your words.
