The doors of the garden creaked loudly as a disonnat voice rang out.
"Ohh~ [Y/N], aren't you going to greet us?" The [hair color] maiden cringed at the sight of her mother. Suddenly discouraged as she hadn't wished to see them this soon. But it was most likely better to see them now than later. Clearing her throat, she shook her parents' hands awkwardly, "Mother, it's nice to see you again. As well as you, Father. "
The mother, Jiyoung Coy, was just like any horrible mother. Putting her one and only child in a Catholic school for God only knows why. While the father, Ha-joon Coy, is an awkward lanky man, of course, when he wasn't drinking. But to anyone who didn't know he was an alcoholic; he just looked like an awkward male who follows nothing but his own wife's choices.
The protagonist rubbed her fingers anxiously before speaking, "I'm glad you guys came. I wanted to ask if you guys wanted to head into town with me?" She had hoped that maybe they'd explain why they left her or at least spent time as she'd have to leave soon to start her journey as a Chosen. Jiyoung face turned sour and scoffed. "We didn't come here to hang out. We came to sign documents."
[y/e/c] eyes looked at both of them. The father grunted in annoyance and looked away while taking out his flask filled with whiskey.
"Documents? About what?" The female started to aggressively rub her fingers before asking again, "Mother? What documents?" Jiyoung snapped her fingers, which caused her father to open a brief that was filled with papers. Finding the right ones, he handed it to his daughter and closed the brief loudly.
Startled, she grabbed the papers timidly. Her heart dropped as she wanted her parents to tell her instead of letting her read a wrinkled paper with words that could cause harm. She hoped that it was something good that could cause her heart to have relief. But these were the people who put their child into a strange place with no communication with them whatsoever.
"Please let this be good. I need it to be good. "
[Y/N] bit her lip while she began to read the documents her parents talked about.

I can't believe that this is what they came for. They didn't want to see me or congratulate me. But to have money for themselves.
Her thoughts bubbled as she kept re-reading the paper. Her nose and eyes suddenly became red as she started to cry.
Tears landed on the paper as she held them tightly, which allowed it to crinkle. "So you came all this way for money?! Not even to see your own daughter?"
Jiyoung rolled her eyes and sighed. "Don't tell me you'd think that we wouldn't want some of the money you'd make doing this job." Ha- joon hadn't said anything and walked away while taking sips from his flask. "[Y/N]. This is one of the reasons we left you. We already had things planned out. So please don't make it hard as it is."
Bitting her lips, she looked over her shoulder to see the carving of Mary and Jesus. "So... Do you want me to sign this? And then what?" She had a sliver of hope that they could have been good people. Good parents.
The mother didn't know how to respond before rubbing her forehead. "What are you talking about?" Jiyoung stopped rubbing her forehead, clearly annoyed that her own daughter wasn't going to sign the document anytime soon.
"I'm your only daughter. Wouldn't you want to spend time with me? Or maybe get excited that we're finally meeting each other after all these years?"
A large pause went on for the second before Jiyoung muttered,"You know, you can stop thinking of yourself as an only child. You have a brother named min-jing. "
Her lips parted open slightly to ask her if she had heard her right. But before doing so an adolescent showed up with a round lollipop. His face crinkaling in delight as he saw his parents before running towards his father.
"When?" The mother looked away slightly to glance at her husband and son. "When what?" Jiyoung could easily tell how hurt her daughter was. Pushing off the guilt and suspense that built up inside her, she spoke again. "Five years ago. I suddenly became pregnant, and I wanted the child. Simple. "
"So what? You didn't want me?" The [Y/H/C] whimpered. "What was so wrong with me that you had to abandon your once only child?" The father hearing how the [hair color] began to shout, he quickly took the child elsewhere to let the two females talk.
"There was a letter sent by the king to everyone to allow their children to become Chosens. If so, they'd get a monthly pay and were forgiven for their debts. We.. couldn't provide for us or you. So we had no choice. "
[Y/N] hadn't ever felt so much despair. Even when the nuns of the school made her take cold baths for having strays in the building. Nor when the teacher would hit her wrist when helping a classmate with an answer to a test. She never had her soul parting apart brutally by a person she's supposed to call a mother.
Her glimmery eyes looked to her mother. Finally, being able to look her im the eyes. Deathly words repeatedly beating her head as she wanted to wail and scream.
Jiyoung stared at the shorter female in discomfort. She could see how the light in her eyes vanished. She hadn't said anything for some seconds before she spoke harshly, wanting to at least dominate the other women. "Don't be so quick to judge! I am your mother, after all. "
Soon, she wrapped herself tightly with her jacket. I hope that the other person would just cave in to get it over with. Waiting for reply, the other had sat down to read the Bible and spoke calmly. "I forgive you. But I'll need to make changes to the document before I sign it."
The mother was speechless. She knew how wrong this was. Nevertheless, there was another child she needed to take care of. And she wouldn't let another grown adult ruin her plans, especially if it was her daughter.
She angerly grabbed her hair and forced her to look at her face. "Stop reading that God damn thing. I think you're so much better than me just because you're a Chosen. " Her fists clenching and pulling tighter before she demanded to have no changes done to the document.
"I'm going to ask you to let go before I tell people what you've done today. Since I'm a Chosen, would you know how offensive it'd be for you to be holding me like this? It'd be prison for you. " Jiyoung became horrified as her daughter smiled at her. She let go of her hair and stepped back. "You’re such a whore! How could you do this to your own family!"
The father who was hearing the conversation came over quickly to grab his wife. "You’re taking this too far. Just sign the document so we can go". [Y/E/C] focused on the lanky man before standing up. "I could also report you for encouraging such thing". She sighed heavily before suddenly swinging the Bible at her father's head making him stumble. "And I'm taking it too far? Let's see how far I can take this." Jiyoung grabbed him before he could fall and yelled at her. "Are you insane?!"
The other person rolled their eyes and replied how they used God's name in vain infront of a Chosen. The older couple faces scrunched in anger before calling out to their son to leave. "You'll have the new documents by tomorrow!" Waving away at them as they shut the door forcibly.
"That could have went better". Startled as she saw as her friend peaking out her head from a bush. "Let's go to my room, its almost six anyways".
That's when it suddenly hit the newly Chosen. That she was once again disowned.
