I sat at home in my bed reading. It was a stupid book about yet another man hating women, my professor claimed it was one of the finest pieces of literature. I don't agree, the main character is a miserable man who excuses his disgusting behavior by his sorrow, how unique.I despise many things in the capitol yet I'm shamefully drawn to its elegance. Everything is so beautiful yet so poisonous.
I quit my reading session to make some dinner, once I make a meal I like I stick with that same meal until I'm bored of it and find something new. Right now it's lasagna, I made one yesterday so I just have to heat it up and it's so delicious.
As I walk into the kitchen I am greeted my dr. Gaul, I don't know why but every time I see her she kind of freaks me out. She has this scary look about her, and she's also head game maker, so if she found out I was a rebel sympathizer she'd probably have me executed. Even if I'm her very own blood.
I'm careful how I act around her. "Are you making dinner Maeve?" She asked. "Well I'm heating up the lasagna from yesterday, you can have some if you want" I really hoped she would say no, I honestly didn't want to eat dinner with her. " I unfortunately don't have time" I was very relieved.
"You know Mr. Snow I spoke with the other day" she started. "Yes I'm aware". "He has quite the talent that young man, you know about the internship. I'm taking him under my wing. But you know what the most important thing is?" Oh now she was asking me a question well I don't know what answer she's looking for "trust?". " No Maeve, you cannot ever truly trust anyone, the most important thing is loyalty." Where was she going with this. "That's why I came to speak to you actually, you know the game maker program that I'm leaving for next week with the interns?". "I do", "I use that to find the loyal ones. It's not just about them proving their skills. Some of your peers in the university have a chance to apply to come with us at the program to learn more about not only the occupation, but the games themselves." .
I've heard about that, but why was she bringing it up. Sounds like she wants me to apply but I can't figure out why. "Maeve, I want you to apply and I will make it so you will get in" "Thank you that's very kind of you, but can I ask you why?". "I need you to help me. Mr. Snow has proven to be quite exceptional, but I need to know that his loyalty lies with me. He's a socially skilled man, he doesn't have many flaws in his social performances, therefore I cannot know his true intentions just by speaking with him, because he knows what he needs from me and he will act accordingly. That's where you come in, I need him to come close to you get to know you, so that you can find out where his intentions lie. Think you can do that?" .
Why was she trusting me with this important thing, but like she said she doesn't trust anyone, so her best bet would be her own blood in this case I presume. "I will do so if you want me to", I said. "Good, then you should hurry up and send in the application" she said and then left with no goodbyes.
~
The next day I woke up early to write my application and go with it to the university. I didn't put much effort into it since I knew dr. Gaul would pull the strings for me. But I need to uphold my reputation so I still wrote something rather good.
