"Perfect, you're just in time for dinner, darling" My mother gazes over towards a chair sitting at the head of the table. As I make my way towards my seat, I can feel my family's eyes follow my every movement, their eyes are like daggers piercing into my soul, but I brush it off and move on. I sit down in my chair, sitting right across from my mother. I then notice a door start to open and two identical looking waiters come out holding what can only be described as water. The waiters then make their way to each family member sitting at the table, pouring each glass with the perfect amount of water, not too full but, not too empty either. I look at the food that is in the middle of the table. The meal consists of a full roasted ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, two loaves of bread, and a bowl of green beans. I reach for the green beans since they look the most edible out of the meal and I put a big scoop onto the porcelain plate. I notice that my mother is staring at me and I start to panic, wondering what is going on. "Darling, why aren't you having any ham? It's your favorite" my mother says in an almost hypnotic tone. I scramble, trying to figure out what to say. "I- uh um, I had a big lunch so I- uh I'm not that hungry '' I can tell that my mother is not buying the story but she replies with "ok" and eats the slice of ham on her plate.
After about an hour of awkward silence and eating, we finish dinner and the two identical waiters come out of a door and they collect the plates and food and go back into what seems to be the kitchen. I wait a good 2 minutes before deciding to leave the table but, as soon as I get up I start to feel funny. "What's wrong dear" mother asks me in a very condescending tone, I look at her, about to answer but I suddenly feel my feet collapse under myself and my whole world goes black.
