Bemused I throw my phone on the desk. Running a hand through my hair I let out the sigh that was held captive in my lungs. Leaning back in my chair my eyes survey the damage, Janette really outdid herself this morning when she explosively quit.

The polished black marble floors were littered with paper. In a rage Janette had cleaned out her desk throwing anything she could get her hands on across my office with a flourish. To rub salt in the wounds she went as far as to throw several jugs of water across the room.

Annoyance flickers across my features as I look at the mushy pages now glued to my expensive floor. I mentally prepare myself for the grilling I was sure to be subject to. Janette lasted 3 days before she quit. It's not like I'm that much of an asshole, I just expect my assistant to be on time and do their job.

Picking back up Skye's resume I spin around to face the dramatic floor to ceiling windows which overlook the city skyline. My mind wanders back to the sound of her voice when she picked up the phone, breathless, panting. Scanning the pages my tongue passes over my teeth as I think.

Why would she leave her family to move back to the states. By all accounts Skye had performed well in her interview. Once the initial nerves settled, she performed expertly. Richard seemed to be enamoured with her, gushing in his report about her poise. I snort a laugh remembering how she breathlessly mumbled shit on the phone. Skye had managed to pique my curiosity, by all accounts she worked whilst in Edinburgh and studied at the same time. Her resume indicated that she had worked as a secretary for several legal firms whilst studying. There was nothing about her experience which aligned itself to the tech industry, so why would she apply to work here?

'The fuck did you do to her?' The intrusion of another voice rapidly pulled me back to reality. Lazily I twirl around in my chair laying my eyes on Harrison. The cocky bastard leant against my doorframe as his eyes surveyed the damage. 'Please don't tell me you stuck your dick in that? I told you the moment I saw her, I knew she was crazy.'

Harrison and I were complete opposites. His light blonde hair expertly styled into a heartthrob swoop atop his head. He was light, disarming, charming. When he smiled there were dimples which would make anyone weak at the knees. His features were painfully flawless, his nose perfectly straight.

'You think everyone's crazy,' I retort with a gruff laugh.

'And 99% of the time I'm correct.' Pushing himself off the doorframe he dramatically stepped over the mushy paper. His sleek leather shoes slipping on the marbled floor.

Throwing Skye's resume on my desk I steeple my fingers together, 'I know you won't believe me, but I didn't do anything.'

With a brow raised Harrison took a seat unbuttoning his suit jacket with a flourish. He gestured to my face with a grimace, 'you didn't look at her like that the whole time, did you?' Quirking my brow he continues, 'with that face... a face that says I will murder you and your entire family if you are one second late to work.'

Clearing my throat, I offer him my best practiced smile which causes his grimace to deepen.

'Oh God don't tell me you smiled like that to her?' He laughed. His amusement morphed into a hearty belly laugh. If I hadn't grown up with the brat, he would have been thrown out on his ass the second he walked into my office.

Counting to 10 I calm myself. Wisely Harrison sensing my annoyance quickly jumped up from his seat knowing that our conversation was over.

One, two, three...

'I can see you're busy,' he offers me his signature smile, as if butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. I feel a familiar murderous twitch in the corner of my eye.

Four, five, six...

'Try not to fuck the new one,' he waves as he trots back over the mess.

Seven, eight, nine...

'Or at least try to keep this one for more than three days. I am sure even you could do that. Soon enough there won't be anyone brave enough to work for you, what then? You'll have to answer your own phones.'

Crossing the threshold my eyes stab into his back as he leaves.

Ten...

Letting out my breath I glance back down to Skye's resume. Something about it unsettled me and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Picking back up my phone I hum to myself spinning around to watch the skyline once more.

'I need you to do some checks for me,' I pause for a moment, 'and bring in some cleaners to my office.' Rattling off Skye's information I hang up. Tapping my phone to my forehead I continue to watch the world outside my office fly by.

Let's see what skeletons are in your closet my sweet little pet.
