month two. Charlotte finds maggie and meredith in amelia's hospital room, crowding the bathroom as the latter shaves part of her hair for surgery. she turns from the mirror to face the three girls and the youngest raises her eyebrows. "that's it?" charlotte asks, leaning against the doorway. "it kinda makes you look fierce. badass."
the other two woman agree. "are you sure you don't want me to call your mom?" meredith confirms.
"no." amelia shakes her head. "she didn't come to my wedding; she doesn't get to come for my tumor."

Amelia's hospital room is packed before her brain surgery as tom koracick goes over his surgical plan. "shepherd should be back at work in a week, tops." he assures the group gathered, "i've got this. i've done many surgeries similar to this."
"but never the exact surgery. great." charlotte mutters. "that's like me saying i can drive a car 'cause i kick ass at mario kart." alex snickers from beside the girl.
"and just why is the stray here?" tom questions. charlotte rolls her eyes, crossing her arms in front of her chest is distaste. it may be insinuated that she wasn't exactly koracicks biggest fan.
"okay, thank you tom. that is all." amelia hints, waving tom out of the room.
"well he isn't at all arrogant." charlotte remarks sarcastically.
amelia ignores her, taking a deep breath before speaking. "deluca. ask koracick lots of questions during surgery and use my early ambulation protocol postop. if i don't make it through, meredith i want you to call my mother. i'm sorry but she likes you. charlie, take my room. it's way better than karevs couch. owen, if i'm totally gorked, just tuck me away somewhere and move on with your life. i've named april my power of attorney. we're friends, she likes me, but we're not so close that she'll let emotion dictate her decision." amelia reaches beside her and squeezes charlottes hand. "i don't know if this is tumor talking or not, but in this moment i love all you people tremendously."

Amelia, koracick, and deluca pause as they enter the operating room, getting into a superhero stance and staring up towards the ceiling. "i love this." koracick whispers. "are there really studies on this?"
"yup." amelia nods, focusing as she gazes up at the gallery briefly before climbing up onto the operating table. she looks up into the gallery one last time to wave at alex, meredith, maggie, and charlotte before being put under.
