Dms - Scaramouche, Aether

@Scaramouche: Aether, can we talk?

Please.

@Scaramouche: I'm sorry for everything, please can we just talk?

Talk with me once you feel better.

@Scaramouche: I'm sorry.

Seen.

──────────

Wait wait...

Is this a legitimate, genuine, HONEST TO GOD, sincere apology coming from Scaramouche?

As in, Scaramouche — Kunikuzushi? HIS Scaramouche?

He is actually offering an apology. Aether isn't in some surreal dream right now, is he?

Scaramouche doesn't know just how badly Aether needs this, especially in the current circumstances. Aether is already entangled with Albedo's bullshit, and the prospect of sidestepping Scaramouche's complications provides a welcome sense of relief.

It feels as if a considerable burden has been lifted off Aether's shoulders. Thank the fucking stars.

──────────

@Aether: holy fuck

sorry

@Aether: I shouldn't have started the conversation like that.

Sorry.

@Scaramouche: It's okay; don't worry about that. I understand if you need some time or anything.

This honestly doesn't feel real at all.

Is Aether in some kind of weird lucid dream? Or perhaps virtual reality, where this is scripted? Because this doesn't seem like the Scaramouche he's familiar with.

It seems too good to be true.

Aether should be a little skeptical, yes, but honestly, he's just so thankful he didn't even bother to think about just how... suspicious, it seems.

Why would Scaramouche suddenly apologize out of the blue?

That isn't like him at all. When did he even apologize on his own without being forced to do so? Aether's pretty sure Nahida, Raiden, or Yae Miko know about their whole incident, so there's no way for them to force him to apologize since, well... They don't know about it.

So why was Scaramouche apologizing? on his own?

No, even if Aether did know how unlikely this seems and that he should be skeptical, it's not like he'll even care anyway.

He's too much of a mess right now to care.

He needs someone for him so badly; it doesn't matter who that person is — it could even be Ayato, for fucks sake — just someone he can talk to.

Blame him (or them,) but he's desperate for comfort right now.

And he'll seek it from anyone he can. As long as it doesn't harm anyone or get anyone else involved, no way. He wasn't going to make things get worse.

Like he might've already had.

Despite how much it hurts him to be called dramatic, he knows he might be a little dramatic about some of the things happening.

Xiao didn't want to get anyone involved; that was selfless... right? So why was Aether hurt by that? Shouldn't Xiao be hurt even more?

Oh, fuck off, eternal monologue.

You're making things worse; why not focus on the fact that Scaramouche actually apologized? Even if he might have ulterior motives.

It doesn't matter to Aether, no, not with how desperate he is for some comfort right now.

How pitiful.
