PERCY AND THE REST OF HIS QUESTMATES DASHED THROUGH THE CORRIDORS!
He didn't think about how Cherry had indirectly rejected him and how he'd probably ruined their entire friendship.
He also definitely didn't think about how she hadn't joined them again.
"This way!" Rachel yelled as they turned the corner.
She'd been leading them through the labyrinth pretty successfully, except for their recent encounter with Luke, who'd become Kronos' vessel.
"Why should we follow you?" Annabeth demanded, still shaken up by the sight. "You led us straight into that death trap!"
"It was the way you needed to go," Rachel told her. "And so is this. Come on!"
Annabeth ran alongside with the rest of them. The bright red-haired girl knew exactly where they were going. She led them down every corner and every split path.
They stopped to rest at a gymnasium held up by old marble columns.
The blond stood at the doorway. He listened for the sounds of footsteps but there was nothing. They'd lost Luke and his minions in the maze.
He almost screamed when another red-haired girl came into his sight. Then he babbled unintelligently, trying to make it seem like everything was normal between them.
"You scared us." Annabeth said, catching her breath. "You know you shouldn't be here."
"I know." Cherry nodded, stepping inside the gym.
A boy at their side looked towards the group members as he collapsed onto the floor from exhaustion. "You people are crazy." He pulled off his helmet, his skin gleamed with sweat.
Cherry made eye contact with the boy on the floor. He recognized her immediately. One of the gods, he thought bitterly.
The way she looked at him didn't make him feel vulnerable, though. Maybe it was because she wasn't looking at him like everyone else did.
Maybe it was because a god was looking at him at all.
Annabeth gasped with some sort of recognition. "I remember you! You were one of the undetermined kids in the Hermes cabin, years ago."
He glared at her. "Yeah, and you're Annabeth. I remember."
"What- what happened to your eye?" Annabeth gestured to your eye.
"Don't ask that." Cherry suggested as the black-haired boy looked away, resisting a scoff. Since when did the gods care about what he wanted?
"You must be the half-blood from my dream," Percy thought. "The one Luke's people cornered. It wasn't Nico after all."
