The warm rays of the sun woke Winter up out of her slumber. Once she opened her eyes, she could smell breakfast being made as well as hearing R&B music coming from downstairs. As bad as she didn't want to get up out of bed, she knew she had to get her day started to start working towards her freedom.
Winter sat up placing her feet in her Victoria Secret slippers and grabbed her Versace robe, wrapping it tight around her. She walked towards the smell of bacon, eggs, waffles, and cheese grits. As she got closer, she could hear Keith Sweat blasting through the lower level.
"You may be young but your readyyyy" Winter could hear her uncle Cedric singing, if you want to call it that. He was already dressed in his work clothes for the day, but he didn't forget to put his cooking apron on. Winter couldn't help but laugh.
"Girl what you laughing at? You don't know anything 'bout that Sweat," he laughed with her. Winter took a seat at the table and started pouring some ice-cold orange juice.
"I know more than you think Unc," Winter told him jokingly. He turned around from making her plate, looking at her.
"You don't know shit, you just think you do," her uncle said. "When you get about 50 then you would know something," he joked handing her food.
"You got to be crazy. 50 is too old," Winter laughed. "Remember there's a good way and a bad way to love someone," Winter responded quoting some of the lyrics from the song.
"Girl just eat your breakfast, only love you need is my fatherly love and love from God and your brother," he said laughing grabbing his lunch out the fridge. "I'm about to go to work though, I'm trying to get a little overtime in. Don't have no crusty boys to my crib, especially Kevin. Last time he was here that boy drank all my damn Kool-Aid," he said giving Winter a hug and leaving the house.
As soon as uncle Ced started backing up to head to work, Winter phone started to ring. It was a shirtless Kevin who had many tattoos across his body.
"Good morning, Winter," he said smiling through the phone showing his pearly whites. Winter smiled back showing hers.
"Good morning, Kevin," she said. "What are you doing this morning?"
"Nothing just took a shower about to find something to eat," he said. His voice sounded even deeper in the morning when he first woke up which drove Winter crazy.
"So, one of your girlfriends didn't make you breakfast? Aww," Winter joked. Kevin sucked his teeth and laughed.
"My girlfriend is in Sunset Springs, in a Versace robe, obviously already eating breakfast so I guess I have to buy some," Kevin said, Winter blushed hard trying not to smile.
"Well, after you pick up your breakfast, your girlfriend needs some help with something," Winter explained.
"Well, what is it?" Kevin asked. Winter bit her lip not wanting to say but Kevin already knew what she was about to ask for help with.
"I thought you got out that shit?" he asked.
"I have to get this 5 mil and then I can be done," Winter told him. "I talked to him last night and he just gave me this shit and that's all I have to do.". Both Winter and Kevin got quiet.
"5 million dollars? Why do you think he about to let you out the business?" Kevin asked. "I'm only asking because although we may play or whatever I really do have feelings for you, so I must keep it real with you. I'm ready for whatever about you. I just wish you didn't even have to do this," Kevin started rambling.
"Kevin, I don't want to hear that right now. I made these decisions and I have to deal with the consequences. I'm down to do whatever I need to do to leave, and this is why I'm trying to do it this way. I don't want to lose you or my brother, again, because of this shit. I have a few more weeks until our next meeting and until my brother gets out," Winter explained.
