Kai, Lila, and Rex had left the city, and had continued their journey to the north. They had followed the road, the map, and the compass. They had hoped to find the safe haven, a place where they could live in peace and harmony. A place where there was no radiation, no hunger, no violence. A place where there was hope.

They had also hoped to find some friends, some allies, some companions, or anyone who would join them in their journey. They had hoped to find some people who were like them, who had survived the war, who had escaped the spores, who had fought the bandits. They had hoped to find some people who were alive, who were human, who were good.

They had found each other.

They had found each other, and had decided to travel together. They had decided to share their supplies, their weapons, their skills, and their stories. They had decided to help each other, protect each other, support each other, and care for each other. They had decided to be friends, partners, teammates, and family.

They had decided to be alive.

They had felt alive.

They had talked to each other, and had learned more about each other. They had talked about their past, their present, their future, and their dreams. They had talked about their likes, their dislikes, their fears, and their hopes. They had talked about their hobbies, their interests, their talents, and their goals. They had talked about everything that made them who they were, and everything that made them different.

They had also talked about something else.

They had talked about something that they had never talked about before, or rarely talked about before, or forgotten how to talk about before. They had talked about something that was strange, new, and different. They had talked about something that was beautiful, amazing, and wonderful.

They had talked about something that was alive.

They had felt alive.

They had talked like this:

"Hey, how are you?" Kai said.

"I'm good, thanks for asking." Lila replied.

"That's good. I'm glad you're okay." Kai said.

"Me too. Thanks to you." Lila said.

"You're welcome. I'm happy to help." Kai said.

"You're very kind. And brave. And smart." Lila said.

"Thank you. You're very nice. And strong. And skilled." Kai said.

"Thank you. You're very sweet. And handsome. And funny." Lila said.

"Thank you. You're very cute. And pretty. And charming." Kai said.

They smiled at each other, and felt a warm and fuzzy feeling in their chests.

They felt something that they had never felt before, or rarely felt before, or forgotten how to feel before. They felt something that was strange, new, and different. They felt something that was beautiful, amazing, and wonderful.

They felt something that was alive.

They felt alive.

"What about Rex? How is he?" Lila asked.

"He's good. He's waiting for us in the supermarket. He's a good dog." Kai said.

"He's a great dog. He's loyal, friendly, and smart. He's also cute, fluffy, and cuddly." Lila said.

"He is. He's the best dog. He's my best friend. He's my family." Kai said.

"He's my friend too. And my family too. Can I hug him?" Lila asked.

"Of course. He loves hugs and belly rubs, he's a good dog" Kai said.

"Can I hug you?" Lila asked.

"Of course." Kai said.

They hugged each other, and felt a warm and fuzzy feeling in their arms.

They felt something that they had never felt before, or rarely felt before, or forgotten how to feel before. They felt something that was strange, new, and different. They felt something that was beautiful, amazing, and wonderful.

They felt something that was alive.

They felt alive.

"Do you want to go to the safe haven with me?" Kai asked.

"Yes. I do. More than anything." Lila said.

"Do you think we'll find it?" Kai asked.

"I don't know. But I hope so." Lila said.

"Me too. And Rex too." Kai said.

"And Rex too. He's a good dog." Lila said.

"He's the best dog. He's our dog." Kai said.

"He's our dog. He's our family." Lila said.

They kissed each other, and felt a warm and fuzzy feeling in their lips.

They felt something that they had never felt before, or rarely felt before, or forgotten how to feel before. They felt something that was strange.
