A FEW DAYS LATER~

As the days passed, Hope devoted all of her energy into mending her relationship with her mother. They lived in their own perfect little world. They cooked together, slept together, went shopping, and even went to the spa, doing things that most mothers and daughters could only dream of.

SUNNY HOSPITAL- DAY

Tasha's symptoms became progressively more intense. She began suffering from worsening cough and difficulty breathing. She was at the hospital with her mother, hoping to receive the necessary treatment and make a swift recovery.

The doctor walked into the room with a calm and compassionate demeanour. He instructed Tasha to begin a series of tests, including a chest X-ray and CT scan. After the tests have been conducted, the doctor gathered the results and explained the diagnosis.

"Do you think it's that bad, Mom? Those tests were a lot". Tasha asked, her worry evident in her demeanor.
"I'm sure it's nothing sweetie; don't worry". "Unfortunately, the results confirm my suspicions. The scan detected a mass in your lungs, there's no easy way to say this but it is most likely cancer."

He dropped the bombshell, his tone solemn and grave, leaving both of them stunned and speechless.

"What? I have what? You're telling me I have a lung cancer?". Tasha asked, utterly shocked and devastated by the news. Her body seized with fear as she took in this new, horrifying information.
"I'm sorry but that's the case. We're going to have to explore treatment options for you as soon as possible". The doctor's response hit like a sledgehammer, leaving her breathless and speechless.

Tasha's heart sinks as she heard the doctor's devastating diagnosis. She felt an array of emotions swirl around in her mind--disbelief, fear, and overwhelming emotions all come crashing down at once. Her mother, too, was completely shell-shocked from the news, unable to utter even a word, her tears running down her face uncontrollably.

"I know you're probably feeling scared and overwhelmed right now, and those feelings make sense. We'll take everything one step at a time and do our best to provide you with the best care possible. I know this must be very difficult news to accept, but I'm here to support you throughout the process. Let's work together through this."

THUSO'S HOUSE - LATER THAT DAY

The impact of the doctor's diagnosis on Tasha struck her like a gut-punch. As the realization sank in, grief and sorrow washed over her. She was overcome with emotions, and she wasn't sure how to process them. She locked herself away in her room, trying to hold back the tears and the overwhelming feelings of helplessness and grief. Her mother was devastated by the news too. She turned to drinking to numb herself from the sorrow of her daughter's news, trying desperately to forget and hide from the pain.

KEVIN'S HOUSE- NEXT DAY-

Kevin's life has been thrown into a whirlwind of chaos. His world felt like it was crashing down when he lost his mother. That grief hit him hard enough, but it was compounded by the loss of his job, leaving him reeling and at a loss for what to do next. His emotions were in a constant state of flux, ranging from sadness, frustration, anxiety, and fear. He felt overwhelmed and helpless, trying to make sense of it all.

After his mother's funeral, Kevin tried to call Hope, she didn't pick up the phone. He sent her a text to meet the next day, but she didn't respond. He desperately felt like he needed to speak with her, but couldn't get through to her. He felt lost and uncertain, hoping she would reach back out to him.

THE NEW YORK RESTAURANT- NEXT DAY

Hope and Kevin hadn't talked in weeks. She had shut everything and everyone out, including him. Hope was feeling incredibly happy with her newfound bond with her mother, which caused her to shut off the rest of the world. Kevin was looking pale and thin, as if the strain of the past few weeks had taken its toll on him. The waitress finally brought them a menu, interrupting their tense stare-off.
