Chapter 2: The Art Of The Silent Fist

The ninja are hiding their vehicles with leaves. "You were right Ophelia, this is the perfect place to lay low. No cameras, no technology, no problems," Lloyd said. "Still, if any aerial drones pass overhead you'd better wear these," Nya said passing Lloyd and Ophelia new gis, "It'll scramble their signal so they can't find you." "Yeah, this sweet," Lloyd laughed. "Lloyd?" Misako asked. "Mum?" Lloyd asked. "What are you all doing here?" Misako asked. "It's good to see you Ko. The Overlord's back, and he's taken control of New Ninjago City. He has Wu," Ophelia explained. "Wu's tough, there's a reason he's lived as long as he has," Misako said. "Where's Sensei Garmadon?" Ophelia asked. "Yeah, where's Lord Garmadon? Wait, did you just say Sensei Garmadon, Ophelia?" Kai asked. "Yes, Kai. I thought Wu already told you he was teaching me," Ophelia said. "Yes, you're still his favourite pupil, though he won't admit it," Misako smiled, "And he no longer goes by Lord. Here, he is Sensei Garmadon, and he shall not be back until tonight's lesson." "I'm glad he's on our side. With Sensei Wu captured, we need all the help we can get," Cole said. "Come, but our weapons are not allowed. Ever since Lloyd and I saved him, Garmadon has taken an oath to never fight, in hopes to make up for his evil past. It's an oath he takes very seriously," Ophelia explained. "But we were supposed to protect them with our lives," Kai said. "And never let them leave our sight," Jay added. "You guys go on ahead, I will stay back and watch over them," Zane said, the ninja giving him the Techno Blades.

At nightfall the ninja, except Ophelia, sit down with the other students for training. They gasp when they see Garmadon's shadow has four arms. However, this turns out to be Ophelia, who opens the door for him with a bow. "Ah, my son, so glad you could join us," Garmadon said, smiling. "Hey, it's been a while father," Lloyd replied. "Check out the new Senseis, looking sharp," Jay whispered to Cole. "Silence," Ophelia and Garmadon said, whacking Jay on the head with their bamboo sticks. "Close your mouths and open your ears. Tonight's lesson, the Art Of The Silent Fist. To fight, without fighting," Ophelia said. "May we have a volunteer?" Garmadon asked. "How about me?" Lloyd asked. "The Ultimate Battle, Round Two!" Nya joked. "Attack me, but please no powers," Garmadon said. "Yes, we happen to like our monastery," Ophelia joked, making the students laugh. Lloyd charges at his father, but Garmadon dodges, making him run into a table. "As you can see, the key is balance," Ophelia said. Garmadon dodges more of Lloyd's attacks. "Let the opponent fight himself," Ophelia continued, "Let the enemy tire himself." "Argh!" Lloyd yelled, jumping at his father with a flying kick. Garmadon yawned and dodged, causing Lloyd to go flying into a support column. "Ow!" The ninja groaned, embarrassed. "Pupils, we give you the most powerful ninja in all the lands, the Golden Ninja," Ophelia and Garmadon said at the same time, causing them both to chuckle as the pupils laughed and the ninja facepalmed. "Ugh, Lloyd," Jay said, as Lloyd summoned an energy ball. "Easy Lloyd, it's only a lesson," Ophelia said, causing him to calm down. "I'm sorry, I don't know what got into me," Lloyd apologised. "You let the anger take over. I know that feeling well," Garmadon said. "Now, let's divide into groups," Ophelia said, clapping her hands. Kai pairs up with Jay and punches him. "Ow," Jay said. "Perfect," Ophelia said with a sigh as Garmadon chuckled.

While everyone else is practising the technique, Zane realises the techno blades are gone. He searches the area and soon finds Pixal, who had stolen the blades. Zane manages to catch her and tie her up, bringing her back to the monastery as the ninja come out and see what is going on. "It's Pixal, but how did she find us?" Cole asked. "Perhaps we should take her apart to find out," Kai said. "Please, she was only doing what she was programmed to do. She may hold many answers, but perhaps there is an easier way," Zane said, activating the techno blade. "No, I–" Garmadon said. "You do not need to worry Garmadon, the weapon is incapable of cutting a whisker off a mouse, it only hacks into things," Ophelia reassured him. Zane then releases her from the Overlord's control. "Where am I? Why am I tied up?" Pixal asked. "You were under the control of the Overlord," Zane explained, "How did you find us?" "They've mined Sensei Wu's memories. The Overlord knows all of your hiding places," Pixal explained. "My brother, is he okay?" Garmadon asked, concerned. "Yes, but the Overlord wants your son. His golden power is only way he can escape the digital world and become real," Pixal explained. "Why did Borg give us the techno blades? Why are they so important?" Kai asked. "Because together, they can reboot the system, wipe the master computer clean, and destroy the Overlord virus, for good," Pixal explained. "Wow," "Cool," Jay and Cole said as Pixal gasps.

"What is it?" Nya asked. "I didn't come alone," Pixal said. "Uh, who else is with you?" Jay asked. "Nindroids," Pixal replied. "Nindroids?" The ninja asked. "Where are they? I don't see any?" Jay asked, as the nindroids appeared from the shadows. "18 vs 6. Probability of survival to low to quantify," Pixal said. "Never tell me the odds!" Nya yelled. The ninja attempt to fight the nindroids but they prove too fast and strong as Lloyd prepares to use his energy. "No! Our power only strengthens them," Ophelia said. The ninja then manage to escape in a water wheel, deceiving the machines by putting their vehicles on autopilot. "Come on, it won't be long until they realise they've been tricked," Cole said. "I'm coming with you. If the Overlord wants my son, I'm not letting him out of my sight," Garmadon said. "I'll stay and look after the monastery," Misako said, heading back. "Wait, if he wants me, and the techno blades are the only thing that can stop him, shouldn't we split up, just in case?" Lloyd suggests. "Good thinking, the falcon knows the secret location of my Samurai X cave. You can get a vehicle from there," Nya said. "A secret cave? But I thought we knew everything about each other," Jay said. "Well, a girls gotta have her secrets," Nya said. "I'm going with you and Lloyd, Garmadon. We need at least two people to ensure he doesn't do anything too foolish," Ophelia said. "Hey, I'm not that reckless," Lloyd pouted as Garmadon chuckled. "No, you're too naive, like Wu," Ophelia replied. "I agree with Ophelia, let's get moving," Garmadon said.

The falcon screeches overhead as the trio arrive at an old skeleton. "The Samurai X symbol," Lloyd said, pushing a button and revealing the entrance as the three head inside, "Wow, how'd Nya have the time to build all this? Maybe I should have been a Samurai instead." Garmadon then walks over to a vehicle and removes the cover from it. "Why must everything have so many weapons?" he complained. "Says the man who had four arms to possess the golden weapons," Lloyd retorted. "And an indestructible army to conquer Ninjago," Ophelia teased. "Haha, I deserved that," Garmadon said, stopping Loyd from getting in the driver's seat, "I swore off fighting, not driving. Yee-haw!" "Where to now?" Lloyd asked from the back of the vehicle. "As far away as possible!" Ophelia replied.

They kept on driving until the day turned to starlit night. As the moon began to rise they stopped to take a drink, until Lloyd spotted the Overlord's Mecha Dragon in the water's reflection. "Huh?" Lloyd questioned. "We need to leave," Ophelia said, the three jumping in their vehicle. "Come on, start!" Garmadon said in frustration as Lloyd powered it up with energy. "Whoa, he's gaining on us!" Lloyd yelled. "Well, maybe this thing has an afterburner?" Garmadon suggested, pressing a random button which caused Lloyd's chair to fire a rocket at the Mecha Dragon, "Curse these weapons." "Look out!" Lloyd yelled, the Mecha Dragon slicing through the antenna on his chair. "This is why I took an oath of peace!" Garmadon complained. "No offence Garmadon, but I don't think the Overlord cares about your oath of peace!" Ophelia replied as the Mecha Dragon and their vehicle suddenly powered down. "They must have shut down the power," Ophelia said, getting out of the vehicle. "Do you think it's safe to go back?" Lloyd asked. "They may have shut down the power, but they still have to reboot the central computer," Garmadon said. "Until we know the Overlord is gone for good, we need to keep moving," Ophelia agreed.
