Chapter 37

Light and darkness.

All at once, that's all I can see.

It's like they collided into one.

"____! ____ Please wake up!" I'm being violently shook awake. "I know you can hear me! You need to wake up!" My eyes are still closed. "Please! Please wake up!" The shaking slowed to a stop. The voice cracked and hoarse, as if they've been yelling for hours. "You can't give up on me." I felt warmth fall delicately on my body. Then arms wrapping around me into a tight embrace. "Please..."
Everything went silent.

Nothing but the sounds of the wind ruffling the leaves on the ground. The delicate and slow breathing of the form in front of me.

'But why can't I hear myself breathing?'

Soon, whimpering can be heard. Muffled, but still loud enough to be heard.

Their head is resting against my chest. I can feel drops of liquid land on skin. They're warm, yet cold at the same time. Just like the light and darkness.

Then...black.

I can feel warmth around me, the light shining. I can hear wind, trees, leaves, birds, and a chainsaw?

I open my eyes to find a familiar red blob standing in front of me. Make-up stains his face and tears fall from his eyes as he sniffles. His eyes are shut as he holds his chainsaw over his head, in a ready position.

"Grell?" My voice was weak and cracked, but just loud enough for him to hear me.

Grell opens his eyes, tears still streaming down his face. His eyes go wide as he turns the chainsaw off. Immediately he drops the death scythe on the ground and puts me in a death-defying hug.

"____! I thought you were gone! I was yelling and shaking you for what seemed like forever. I'm Glad you're alright." Grell lets go and looks at me in the eyes. He gets this weird look on his face and pulls out the soul retrieval list and looks at it questionably. "It says here you were to die a few seconds ago...but you're here, living and breathing." Grell sits on my lap as I lean against a tree.

"Isn't that good?" I look around my surroundings. "Wait, how the hell did I get here?"

"You were here the entire time. Why is something wrong?" Grell looks confused, as I try to wrap my head around what just happened.

"Yes something's wrong. I just died in a pool of blood." Grell gives me the 'what the hell are you talking about, are you insane?' look as I push him off and stand up. "A-and over there, there was a door! It lead down to a staircase then a chamber. That's were I ran into Jasmine and Claude, right before I...died. There was also a cat. Why the hell was there a cat down there?" look over to were Grell is. "Am I crazy?"

"I, uh, I think you've been in the sun for a little long deary. Lets get you inside." Grell walks towards me as I ponder what happened.

"So, you're telling me it was all a dream?" Grell grabs my wrist and pulls me to the mansion.

"I'm sorry but if there was a door in the woods I out of all people, would know about it." I walked along with him then remembered what I was wearing.

"Wait, I can't go in there looking like this."

"And why not?" We stop and Grell looks confused again.

"Well because look at-" I look down to see a normal dress, not the cat outfit Lizzy made me wear. The dress was white with a corset and a pink bow at the top. It had a black jacket that went down to my hips but the sleeves stopped and were rolled up at my elbows. My hair was down and had a black headband in with a white flower. The bottom of the dress was ruffled. As my wedges were white with black bows tied around my ankles."What the-?"

"You look fine, come on lets go!" He starts to run and drags me to the mansion. "Even though I am a little curious why you are dressed up, more than normal, in the woods."

'Yea me too.'

Once we reached the mansion Grell opened the door like he owned the place. You know in the 'I'm home b*tches' kind of way.

Sebastian was coming down the stairs when he saw us. I swear his eyebrow twitched as soon as he saw Grell.

"Welcome back _____. But may I ask, what is he doing here?"

"Thanks for the welcome Sebastian, but I would like to know is why you left me in the woods? If it wasn't for Grell I would have gotten lost."

"My apologizes milady but I didn't want any harm come towards the young master."

"So saying Ciel was in danger was a lie? Because when has Grell ever harmed Ciel? And why couldn't you tell me what it was going to be like? It scared the living hell out of me."

"I'm sorry I truly am. But some things need to be accomplished alone." He pulled me into an embrace as Grell just stood there all awkward. "I promise that's all, nothing else harmful will come your way as long as I'm here."

I took in a long breath. " I love you too."

As soon as we let go of each other Ciel came down the stairs with a letter in his hand.

"Sebastian I have news-" Ciel stopped in mid sentence as he saw Grell and I standing there. "Oh, hello _____ are here to come back to my manor as a maid?"
He walked down the lengthy staircase.

I backed away from Sebastian and bowed to Ciel. I was scared as hell because the Ciel Phantomhive, that apparently I betrayed, is staring at me with this smirk on his face. Only God knows what he's going to do with me.

"Yes my lord, I would like to join the Phantomhive manor once more. If you allow it, that is." I relied to the young boy.

"Well in that case, Sebastian take her to her room and give her new clothing to wear." Ciel turned on his heels and began to walk back up the stairwell.

"Wait, that's it?"

'Wait what? I come back as an enemy and he forgives me like that?'

Ciel heard me and turned back around. "What? Were you suspecting more?"

I fumbled with my thumbs. "Actually yes. There isn't any 'you disobeyed the Phantomhive name, we're going having to have Sebastian take care of you now' stuff?"

Ciel gave me this look I can't explain. "In that case. Sebastian do to her what we do to all our enemies."

"No no no! Th-that's not what I meant! Well that's exactly what I meant, but I was just shocked you didn't do away with me when you had the chance."

"Hmm, well then don't mention your own fate, and this wouldn't happen."

I bowed down. "Thank you my lord."

"Now you all are dismissed. But after you both are settled in and settled down come to my office." He turned around for the final time. "I have something I want to discus with the two of you."

"Well I should go now!~" Grell cheered like a school girl in my ear.

"Gosh Grell I forgot you were behind us." He scared the hell out of me.

"Lucky for you, I sure didn't." I looked at Sebastian to see Grell hanging off of him. But like always he pushed Grell off and walked away."

"Bye Bassy!~ I will see you soon!" Grell came over to me and hugged me. "Oh and dear, please feel better."

"I will."

"All right then, tata~!"

I chuckled then ran up to Sebastian as we head to my no, our room.
