Author's Note: Hi there reader! Kindly listen to "Tingin" by Cup of Joe while reading this story.
In the vibrant city of Midnight, there lived a spirited young woman named Rosie. Rosie met Jisoo, a charismatic and cold-hearted girl at their classroom. Both of them have been classmates since High School. Despite her outgoing personality and captivating laughter, Rosie found herself facing a series of rejections in her pursuit of love. Each time, she would put on a brave face, vowing not to let it dampen her spirits. She was instantly drawn to Jisoo's cold stares in her eyes. However, her attempts at getting to know her were met with friendly smiles, but no indication of romantic interest, just cold stares.
Determined not to let another rejection define her, Rosie decided to focus on building a genuine friendship with Jisoo. They began spending more time together and sharing conversations over studying together. Rosie cherished their friendship but couldn't shake the hope that it might blossom into something more. From the moment she likes Jisoo, she starts to play with the flower's petals, picking off the last petal supposedly representing the truth between the object of their affection, loving them or not.
"I like you, Jisoo." Rosie smiled as she gave me a box with muffins with a note on top of the box. I thanked her but I just realized what she was saying.
I stopped smiling, my face was stiff, I looked at Rosie with a stare, but I didn't say nor do anything. I don't know what to say. I kept silent for a while, and then I spoke. "I don't like you."
"So? I still like you." I was stunned by Rosie's confirmation, I remained still and silent, my mind processed by her words. "Is it because I am a girl?"
"N-no! It's not like that." What should I say now? "I just see you as a friend." My heart.. It stings when I say that to her. I just shrugged it off and I saw her eyes filled with sadness. I gulped.
"It's okay! I will find a way just to make you love me!" She said as she ran away. What?
I looked at the note she left for me and I read it.
Dear Jisoo,
I hope you like the muffins! I baked it, and actually my mother helped me. If you don't like it, please don't throw it away. I took time to make that and just give it to your family. But if you want to eat it, then why not? I just hope you like it as much as I like you, Jisoo.
With Love,
RosieI smiled as I sat on the bench and opened the box. I could smell the blueberry banana muffins and it was so good to smell. I took one muffin and tasted it. It was delicious! I almost forgot her mother is a baker. I smiled as I took another bite of it. My family should taste this and support their business. I called my mother to buy Rosie's cake for Uncle's wedding as a wedding gift.
"Hey mom!" My mother finally answered the phone as she said, "Oh hi my daughter! Have you found a baker already?" I smiled as I thought about Rosie's mother. "Yes mom, do you remember Rosie?"
"Yes, Jisoo. Isn't she the girl who's been liking you for years already?" I blushed. "You should court her, Jisoo, if not then ask her to be your girlfriend." I chuckled. My mother's very supportive when it comes to Rosie.
"Maybe soon? Anyway, her mother's a baker, Mom, and I'll ask for her mother's number later." I smiled, I looked around to see if there are people behind me and good thing there's no people. I heard my mother and father chuckling through the phone. "At least ask her number? By the way, tell Rosie that I'm inviting them tonight to have dinner with us since we want to meet her family."
I stopped chuckling, I stayed silent. My mother was wondering why I was silent. "Baby, why are you so silent? Are you okay?" I wiped my sweat and said, "I'm fine, mom! Sure, I can tell her that right now." I honestly don't know if I got the courage to talk to her after I rejected her.
