Chapter Ten: Life or Death

I groan as the van pulls into the safe house, my heart is slowing down and I'm trying my hardest to stay awake. If I die, I want to see Gems face one more time.

"Mark get Toby, I'll go get the doctors" I hear Cody say.

Hunter helps Mark, they pull me out of the van and I yell as my wounds open. The little healing I've done is undone.

I grit my teeth, hoping to see my mate. I glance around but there's no sign of her. I choke out a sob with the thought that I'm going to die without having seen her and felt my my child.

"Gem" I whisper, Mark looks at me before handing me fully to Hunter.

"I'll go find her Toby, don't die on us." He says as he jogs down the hall.

Hunter lays me on a metal table, I shiver at how cold it is. I stare up at the neon lights, the brightness surprises me. I groan as pressure builds in my wound.

"TOBY, TOBY!" I hear gem shout.

"Gem, baby I'm trying for you" I mumble, hoping she knows what I'm talking about.

"I know, just hold on a little longer" She replies softly in my ear.

"He's bleeding out, get deuce" I hear one of the doctors say.

My mind shuts off, oblivious to the panic around me. Gem squeezes me hand but I don't really feel it, I growl as someone roughly stitches my wound. Gem is crying and I want nothing more than to hold her, tell her everything is ok and place my hand gently on her belly to feel my child.

I sigh as my body and mind are pulled into a pitch blackness, I just hope this doesn't mean I'm dead.

************DREAM************************

I'm running though the woods, my body floats over the land and I try to feel the floor; I can't. The moon raises slowly but I can see everything clearly so it doesn't bother me.

I see some gates up head and I run as fast as I can, a building looms over me. The leery scene causes me to shiver. 

"Hey, Toby" I hear from my left. I stop and tunr, Jay sits on a big log. I feel tears spring to my eyes.

"Hey, brother" I reply.

"Come sit with me, I've got something to tell you" He says.

I walk slowly to him, I can;t believe he is here. The woods begin to get darker but I don't care, as I walk he gets further and further away.

"Jay, please don't leave me" I cry into the night.

I start to run, I feel my shift into my wolf form but I didn't do it. I shake myself to clear my head, I scan the wood for any threats; I find none.

I lift my muzzle into the air, Jays scent becomes scattered. He always does that, I run in circles a few times but after a while Jay lets me get near.

"Come" He says, he darts off down a wash and into a courtyard.

"you see this?" He asks, referring to the ominous building. I nod and wait for him to continue.

"You made this after I died, you live and you make this school for all the werewolf kids that are homeless and parent-less. You called it after me, I love you for it. Also you used it for more rescue missions, I know how bad this werewolf massacre has got. Hide the werewolves and save our race, I'm counting on you to help werewolves survive. My spirit is going to be in your child, you hadn't lost me for ever" He says. 

I shake my head but he kneels down, I hear him growl then I forced human again. He hands me my clothes and I hurriedly pull them on.

"I can't do what you want, I couldn't even save you and other of our pack" I whisper.

"You can, goodbye Toby. It's time for you to wake up" He smiles before walking deep into the woods.

******DREAM OVER******************

I gasp as I try to sit up, the room is dark and no one apart from my mate is here. I gingerly get up and walk to her, I tap her on the shoulder and she lets out a sob. 

"Hey, Gem I'm wake" I say.

Her eyes dart open and I smile, she smiles back then starts to sob. I hug her tight and I realise that my actions do affect everyone. I will do what Jay said because he would do the same if I had died.

"I love you" I say into Gems ear.

"I love you too"
