"Have you heard?" Tan, the boy who occupied the desk in front of Wen's spot, whispered. His hands were on the back of his chair, keeping his body from twisting back around to face the front.
"Hmm?" Wen lifted a brow. He was not really curious. He just wanted Tan to say whatever he had to say, so he would turn back around and stop pestering him."Kean tested positive."
Wen's ears pricked up at Tan's words. "What did you say?"
"It's going all around the school. Everyone's saying he's going to get scouted within the month."
Lay, who had been avoiding Wen ever since lunch now tore his gaze away from his book and checked on his friend to see Wen clenching his fists.
"Does anyone know what PHA he is looking at?" Wen inquired of Tan.
"Not sure," the blonde shook his head. "Why?"
"No reason. Just so I can avoid him." Wen mentally slapped himself for saying the last sentence. Lay's eyes widened and went to Tan to see if the blonde caught what Wen had just revealed.
"Ahh," Tan nodded his head before turning back around. Lay let out a breath as Tan went back to his assignment. "Wait!" Tan whispered as he whipped his head back around. "You tested positive?!!"
Wen nodded in a truthful response.
"Cool, man! Don't worry, you're secret's safe with me," Tan smiled. Wen nodded in thanks as the blonde turned back around.
The brown-haired let out a sigh. Whew. That was close.
The only reason Wen was trying to keep his result a secret was so a certain someone would not find out for as long as possible. Wen had a feeling that if Kean knew he tested positive, it would not go well. Luckily, Tan was usually pretty good at keeping secrets.
Lay went back to his book as Wen's secret remained kept. The blue-haired boy could feel his friend glance at him every so often, but Lay had resolved to avoid Wen until the end of the day. He did not know why he was being petty at the moment. He merely wanted Wen to know just how much he was against his friend going down the most dangerous route.
The ringing of the bell signified the conclusion of the class' study hall period and the beginning of the ten-minute break between classes. Their next class was in the same room, so the classroom was not thrown into total chaos at the sound of the bell. Lay remained in his seat as Wen stood to his feet and followed the trail of students who wished to leave the room. The blue-haired let out a breath as he lowered his head on the desk and pushed up his glasses. This was going to be tougher than he thought. He hated ignoring his friend.
Wen walked down the hall with his hands in his pockets. He had just exited the restroom and was lost in thought, so he did not notice the band of jocks he was approaching. Before he knew it, a shoulder bumped into him with a force that could not be considered accidental. The brown-haired boy flicked his eyes up from the floor to see Kean smirking at him.
The raven-haired sucked his teeth at the boy who had bumped into him. "Didn't your mommy teach you to watch where you're going, Kaihan?"
Wen clenched his jaw as he glared at the boy standing next to him. The brown-haired fisted his hands at the mention of his mother. "P*ss off, Li," Wen growled.
"Yywen Kaihan, follow me, please," a voice sounded from behind the group of jocks. The three boys parted like the Red Sea at the sound of a teacher's voice.
Kean leaned towards Wen and whispered, "See you around, Wen," before patting his shoulder and sauntering off with his band of jocks. Wen watched the band leave before following the teacher down the hallway.
