IT DIDN'T COME as much of surprise that she'd be clothed in all white. Head to toe it was an ivory abomination. From the silky fabric of her dress to the ungodly amount of powder Dightery baked into her face.
It wasn't very sultry which she almost didn't like. Without showing the usual amount of skin, it concealed just how badly she was being treated.
It was probably silly to think The Capitol would do anything about it. After all, she's spent eight years under the spotlight and not a single soul residing in luxury gave her a second glance unless it was to swoon over her smile or her body.
They were blind, clueless, and naive. If she didn't hate them so much, she might feel a sense of sympathy.
What she hated most was how 'Capitol' the entire outfit was. The white neckline lifted completely off her skin and was structured around her breasts enough to cover them and make her feel like she was wearing a box.
How the everyday Capitol citizen wore these types of things would always be an unsolvable mystery.
"God, this is blinding." Clem grumbled from beside her as she straightened each stiff piece of fabric.
Clem didn't make this dress. In fact, Nadia was pretty sure she cursed the existence of it. She couldn't blame her, it wasn't pretty or subtle or even the slightest bit comfortable.
"I wonder if you'll cause a problem with the camera lenses." She huffed and Nadia shook her head stifling a laugh.
"I'm actually concerned." Clem cracked a smile at the sight of one on Nadia's lips, feign worry painting her sharp features. "You know, I've got a black gown stowed away somewhere that would be a way better option."
"Tell that to Snow." Nadia stated, brows raised at her and Clem snarled, her face twisted in all sorts of ways.
"I think he's scared of me." Clem whispered, winking at Nadia as Birdie attacked her face with even more powder.
"Oh, I'm sure." Nadia smiled again, not for long as Birdie accidentally dabbed a bit of powder in the woman's mouth causing her chest to heave with a sudden coughing fit.
"Oh, my dear! I'm so sorry!" Birdie discarded the powder compact quickly and patted Nadia on the back to assist her.
"It's okay—" Nadia said through another cough that turned into a laugh, Birdie standing before her wide eyed in worry. "I'm fine."
"Dightery, you do it. I almost killed her!" Birdie whined before storming off to the other side of the room with her long painted fingernail between her teeth and a stance that oozed the question of whether or not she'd be beheaded for attempted murder.
Nadia held back a laugh with her lips sucked into her mouth, her eyes landing on Clem who just stared at the woman across the room with utter disbelief.
Right on cue, Julia walked into the room with her irritating heels clicking through her struts, her existence sucking the little amounts of joy they possessed straight out of the room.
Julia did her usual assessment of the woman to make sure she was camera ready before handing Nadia a few cards filled with words that didn't speak the full truth of how she felt.
They said a lot of things she wasn't sure were true, all she knew was Katniss killed Finnick. Struck him with an arrow and took his life. He was gone because of her and a very large part of Nadia was gone too due to her inhumane acts.
