"A bunch of criminals all in one room. How fantastic. " Deckard rolls his eyes in amusement at Leslie's ranting. Today was the day of their huge family dinner, planned courtesy of Hattie. She thought it would be a good idea to reunite Magdalene and Lyra, and introduce the families. Leslie, on the other hand, thought it was a terrible idea. But, Lyra had found out about it and agreed to it, so Leslie had no other choice but to attend, or else she'd be disowned again.
"You're over-thinking it, love. It's gonna be fine. It'll be over in known time." He reassures, taking her hand to pull her onto his lap. "Before we go, I need to warn you. My father can be a bit...intimidating, and my mother, oh my, she's a handful so try not to get overwhelmed when she hits you with a million bloody questions. And you know how my brother is...but I'm sure he'll accept you. They're going to be very overprotective and quite snotty, ya know? They really liked Joseph, so don't take it to heart if they don't warm up to you immediately."
"I understand, you don't need to worry about me. In fact, I should be worried about you. My family is a mess." Deckard smiled, rubbing a hand over her thigh. Leslie chuckles, pressing a peck to his lips, "well, they can't be any worse than mine." The phone rings, bringing them out of their moment of peace. Leslie reaches for Deckard's phone and hits answer, not bothering to read the name. "Hello, who's this?" She questions boredly.
"Is this the right number?" The other voice mumbled in confusion at the woman's voice.
"If you're calling for Deckard Shaw, then yes, this is the right number. Now might I ask who's calling?" Leslie moved to sit on the couch as Deck stood up, walking over to the bedroom to gather their things so they could leave. "It's his brother, Owen. I presume you're the infamous Leslie? You got quite a pretty little voice." He flirts and she could just imagine to stupid smirk on his face. "I don't have time for this. We'll be at dinner in twenty, I expect to see you there."
"Wait-" Before he could continue, she hung up on him, tossing the phone to the side. Deckard's footsteps echoed the hall as he approaches the woman, holding her pair of high heels she requested. "Who was it?" He asks, sitting down as she takes the shoes from him. "Uh, your brother Owen, I believe. Haven't even met yet and he's already flirting we me." Deckard chuckles, taking her leg so he could put them on, not wanting her to do any extra work. She had just come back from a job so he knew she was exhausted.
"I did warn ya. I'll handle him." Leslie shakes her head, quick to object. "That's not necessary love. I can handle him just fine. Not the first man whose shamelessly flirted with me." Deckard raised a brow, looking at her in amusement. "It worked out pretty well for me though, didn't it?" Leslie smirked, leaning forward to kiss his lips. "I suppose it did. Though you had one thing they didn't. Determination. Most guys give up after the first try. You didn't, and look where we are now?"
