Hey angels~ I hope you have a great day/night<3
"Who sent this?"
Taehyung looked at the text that was written on the white paper with messy letters and frowned deeply. He read the words over and over again until he ended up memorizing them. He then looked at the picture at the bottom of the paper, just staring at the four people who were smiling in it. They all supposed they were a family due to the resemblance and the closeness between them. A happy family. If he had to guess, they were celebrating the boy's birthday. The whole backyard was decorated in blue and green, probably his favorite colors and there was a pinata hanging from what looked like a big branch in the left corner of the picture.
"Who sent the picture?"
Hoseok scratched the back of his head and shrugged, not knowing how to say what he was about to say without pissing off the other.
"We.... We actually don't know. You know how it gets here in the mornings, especially the first two hours of the opening. People come in and leave repeatedly. After the station emptied a little bit one of the officers found the envelope at the front desk. He was initially going to put it aside in case someone was gonna come and look for it later but then he noticed that the envelope was completely white with no name, no address, no state mentioned, no nothing so he opened it because he found it suspicious."
Jungkook, who was listening quietly to what Hoseok had to say, suddenly rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, seemingly annoyed.
"Great, so you are telling me that anyone could have left that behind. Maybe the culprit was right in front of us and we didn't even realize."
Hoseok was going to comment but as soon as he saw the glare that Taehyung shot towards the raven he sealed his lips shut, smirking a little bit.
On the other hand, Jungkook felt like steam was gonna come out of his ears any second now. Lately, those glares are the only thing he has been receiving from the detective. And as much as he wanted to protest, considering the circumstances, it wasn't the best moment to argue with him.
Taehyung maintained the intense eye contact for a few more seconds before looking away, missing the way Jungkook clenched his fists, his eyes still staring at him with the same intensity as before.
Taehyung blinked once, maintaining his eyes closed for a few seconds before opening them again. And now they were back to being the same cold and soul-piercing eyes the others were used to seeing.
"I want the ones in charge of the police station's security to be in charge of reviewing all the CCTV's in the building and around it. If you see anything weird, suspicious, or that just doesn't seem normal send it to me. We need to find out who gave us this envelope. It could be the culprit, it could be just a messenger. We don't know that yet so let's not jump to conclusions. Also, the media cannot find out about this. If this leaks out, they will make a big deal out of it and the police station will no longer be seen as a safe place where people can come to get the help that they need. The rest of you keep up with your work and act as if nothing happened in front of the citizens that come in. Hoseok, I want you to look into this family and give me all the details about them that you can put your hands on. I will go and inform the director about the situation. Understood?"
"Yes,sir!"
Everyone bowed after answering and did as they were told because they didn't want to get on Taehyung's bad side, especially after seeing his face earlier. It was so damn scary.
Even Hoseok decided to leave but not before approaching the blond one last time.
"As soon as I find something useful I will send it to you."
Taehyung just nodded and looked around to make sure that everything looked normal before turning around and making his way down a really long hallway all the way to the end where the elevator was. The director's office was on the top floor, thus there is where he was headed.
As he was walking on the seemingly never ending hallway, he heard another pair of footsteps pretty close to him but since it was obvious who it was, he didn't even bother to look at the person who was now even closer than before. No one else besides Jungkook would dare follow him without his permission, needles to say at such a short distance.
Deciding to ignore the closure, he got in the elevator, waited for the raven to get in and pressed the button. Suddenly he became aware of how cold his hands were so he decided to put his hands in the pockets of his pants, trying to warm them up.
None of them spoke a word and the atmosphere was a little awkward as the silence felt heavy. Luckily for Taehyung, the doors suddenly opened, indicating that they got to their destination.
As soon as they were in front of the office, the blond stopped in his tracks and looked blankly at the wooden door.
"Don't say a word, I'll do the talking."
And with that he opened the door.
'Great, the first thing that he says to me is to shut up.'
As soon as they greeted the director, the blond took a step ahead and explained the situation. Jungkook could see the frown on the director's face deepening gradually and how angry he was by the time Taehyung was done explaining the steps that he took.
"Very well, very well. You did well. I will leave this to you. We can't allow this to get out of here. It would definitely destroy or at least damage our image. We have always been an inspiration for the younger generations and that shall not change. But at the same time we have to make sure that we find that family before they end up dead. And since the criminal himself send the message, let's assume that we can expect more."
The detective nodded understandably before excusing himself and leaving the office.
And just as asked, Jungkook did not say a word the whole time. But keeping his mouth shut became harder and harder, to the point where he had to bite his tongue in order to not lash out.
Once they got in the elevator surrounded by the same unbearing silence, the raven refused to take his eyes off of Taehyung. He paid attention to his body language that was literally screaming 'stay away from me, do not talk to me'. Then he looked up just to see that neutral face that he saw the first time he met the detective. And those eyes that always ended up captivating him somehow were now cold, distant and the sparkles in them were gone.
'What's with him?'
He clenched his jaw and took a deep breath before closing his eyes and emptying his mind. With a soft snap of his fingers the power was suddenly out and the elevator stopped working.
Taehyung was suddenly on guard because of the unexpected occurrence but once he processed what was going on he relaxed.
"Looks like the power is out. They will solve it soon."
Jungkook's eyes were basically burning holes into Taehyung's body.
'You won't even turn around to talk to me anymore. If you don't want to tell me willingly what is going on then I might as well just make you.'
Hope you enjoyed it~
